When was the last time you were at the dentist?

Why don't you ask your dentist or hygienist your questions about oral hygiene? That is what you pay for....I will say that making sure you floss your teeth every night is just as important as brushing if not even more so....

I was a new patient, so he gave me a little tube of crest, a little thing of mouth wash, some dental floss, a nice mug and some of those mini teeth pick things you use when you can't use floss, and a tooth brush. It was really nice of them, no other office had ever given me stuff cause I was a new client lol.

Though I did get a child size tooth brush once, even though I was an adult an just thought it was funny they offered.

Well, then, i would take the articles you are speaking about, your knowledge of what they say and ask your dentist.  Tell him you are looking for a low cost toothpaste and are worried about flouride due to the articles and information you have heard.

I would even go to the dollar store and write down the different toothpastes that have prices in what you want to spend, and ask your dentist to recommend on, or is there a inexpensive home toothpaste you can make or if he feels baking soda and water is okay.

Hell, my dentist gave me not only toothpaste (crest - which is what i prefer anyway), and mouthwash.  They may give you a couple samples.

TfB, you need to talk to your dentist about your concerns.  Since you are going next month, its a perfect time for you to do so.

They will be able to tell you what condition your teeth are in and if what you are concerned about needs to be your focus.  They will also be able to explain things to you based on their knowledge of your teeth and they will be able to tell you the best toothpaste for you out of those toothpastes in your price range.

Flouride does more good than harm. It's still beneficial to adults, and you cannot get fluorosis just from brushing your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste. (according to Dr. Honey Master!)

Ok, He said you shouldn't rinse your mouth with peroxide even if it's diluted as it's known to be a carcinogen.

Yet the dentists recommend it all the time. I rinsed my mouth with the stuff endlessly after both reconstructions.

I know. It's weird.

I can't say too much on the boards about why his answer is more correct, but I can on the other side if you're interested. It has to do with his level of expertise, his peer-reviewed articles, his books and his work.

I agree, it's not a safe substance...I guess it's a cost/benefit thing.

The tooth paste is an adjuvant to cleaning teeth. It is not the main aspect of brushing. The most important aspect of brushing is the technique itself! Might sound weird but true. A good technique and just a little or even no tooth paste will keep your teeth clean, provided you used the right technique. I am not asking people to abandon tooth pastes but I am saying that the technique is more important.

Google search for tooth brushing techniques and you'd come with lots of answers to the same.
