Not sure if anyone has experience with both brands, but I've been looking at them for a while and am curious which is a better value (I'm more interested in quality than cost). I was looking at Chicago and Peerless because they both have the three configurations I'd be interested in...handcuffs, leg irons, and transport chains. I'm not in a desperate hurry to get any...but when the time rolls around, I'd like to know what people think of the brands in question. Here's some links to the items I'm most interested in from both;

Peerless:
Handcuffs
Leg Irons
Transport Chains

Chicago:
Handcuffs
Leg Irons
Transport Chains

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Most police types seem to use Smith and Wesson and most prisons seem to use Peerless, according to a couple friends.Mainly because of the sources they buy from.
If you are just locking your wife to the bed; or she is transporting you to a fet night, then any real cuffs should be fine but people who deal with high security or dangerous people use the best for their safety and years of trouble free use.Chicago brand might be ok for home use but most professionals wouldn't use them, as I am told.
Hope that helps.

If cost is not an issue, look at Clueso.

They are hard to find but it seems this place has some ;

Ah, something I feel I can weight in on.I'm a SSgt with the RCMP, and have seen and used my share of cuffs. I would go with the peerless from your choices. They are great quality and see alot of use in the law enforcement world. I personally have Smith and Wessons on my belt, and I think they are the best value in terms of great quality and a decent price. Smith and Wesson

ASP cuffs are also a good choice and I've seen them in use by a lot of officers and private security.

Make sure that whatever you choose, the double lock mechanism is easy to use and reliable, ya don't want to cut off your subs blood flow to their hands now!

Hey, thanks for the input everyone. Got some useful feedback...

I think I'll keep my eyes on Peerless, since I prefer the aesthetics of their style. I might try some Smith and Wesson some day as well...sounds like those two are the best quality that can be had at (fairly) reasonable prices.

If professionals don't care much for Chicago...I'm going to assume they may not be as durable as I'd like. I prefer spending a bit more to get some solid equipment, than something cheap that won't last very long.

I own Peerless and am totally satisfied with them. The literature says that the are less likely to damage tissue than some others. Plus I like it if the are prison grade. And never been able to be circumvented without proper key; very tiny and cute.

I'm pretty sure Chicago brand cuffs are made in Asia and are imported into the US by Handcuff Warehouse. They probably do the job fine and less expensively than those cuffs made in the US, but don't carry the law enforcement and corrections cred of Peerless and SmithWesson.
