Ruling a country is nt a bed of roses for the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic either, which is a far more substantial country than this tiny self important backwater off the Atlantic Ocean which is not big on the international stage and never will be, but the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic is on exactly HALF the salary of our Chief eminence Enda Kenny and he has a much bigger population to govern. Simply put the salary of Enda Taoiseach and his crew is indefensible it s not worth it now and even if and its a HUGE if he pulls out of the RECESSION, it is still far too much,. my parents agree, our politicians are overpaid and over fed, for a small island a more appropriate salary would be $80,000 Taoiseach and $40,000 ministers, but in Ireland we pay the fat cats way too much kevin

No doubt your parents voted for other overpaid politicians in their lifetime as well. Its a feature of the system unfortunately but my point is that unlike virtually all the previous politicians, Kenny and Company have actually taken a pay cut rather than a pay rise. Over the past month very positive statistics on growth have come out which the EU, IMF etc. have praised! I'm glad that things are picking up in Ireland, here at least we have the impression of a struggling country. Of course, that description matches most countries these days! Our upper echelon politicos are often ridiculously paid, and the medical benefits! If they stopped having their own needs taken care of, I am sure there would be more motivation for change in our medical policies. The president, though, he's not remunerated all that much, though I am not sure how room and board figure in to it all. Certainly any redecorating and public entertaining is part of the White House budget.

i do look at the news. i despise Martin Mc Guinness, he is nothing more than a terrorist. The bombing of Omagh , Enniskillen, and other place s in the North was completely wrong , indefensible and caused a lot of avoidable grief. It also did nothing to achieve harmony between the communities , it deepened divisions still further as if the north is not a big enough tinder box as it is. I only talk of west brits , because that is what we are, not by virtue of the fact that we dont have a united Ireland, i couldnt give a fiddlers and do NOT want a united Ireland, it would be a huge strain on an already beleaguered tax payer plus the fact that a large community up there do NOT want a united Ireland and why would they, what has this country to offer our northern brethern, a disastrous health service, where they have a functioning health service, a social welfare system that quite candidly does not serve its users and an educational system that does not serve its users and concentrates a disproportionate amount of time on drilling in a defunct and utterly useless language into its learners to what purpose, it is never used and never will be used , the Irish language should be scrapped from the school curriculum, rest assured i will not be voting for the Provos kevin

I DONT HAVE AN OPTION THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO. ALL MY ASSETS ARE IN IRELAND. To answer your question, there are Women going forward for election to President but i wont vote for any of them, not because im sexist, but because I DO NOT believe ireland can AFFORD a presidency in the current state we are in , certainly not a Presidency and a Prime Minister, one but not the other, here again we copy the Brits, who have a head of state, the Queen, our head of State is the President, so despite all the crap from the patriots in Sinn Fein, who despise the English, we are very much a carbon copy of our historical foe kevin

Thats the thing, we dont have a choice, its compulsory , despite the fact that NOBODY uses it, its a complete white elephant and a total waste because nobody speaks it except maybe a few communities in Connemara and even there and maybe rathcarn, English is also spoken by the natives, so why are we persisting with a dead language, il tell you why in the name of patriotism which is a load of horse shit, we are west brits kevin
