There has been much speculation over who is financing the disparate protest, which has spread to cities across America and lasted nearly four weeks. One name that keeps coming up is investor George Soros, who in September debuted in the top 10 list of wealthiest Americans. Conservative critics contend the movement is a Trojan horse for a secret Soros agenda.

Soros and the protesters deny any connection. But Reuters did find indirect financial links between Soros and Adbusters, an anti-capitalist group in Canada which started the protests with an inventive marketing campaign aimed at sparking an Arab Spring type uprising against Wall Street. Moreover, Soros and the protesters share some ideological ground.

The Hungarian-American was an early supporter of the 2008 election campaign of Barack Obama, who will seek a second term as president in the November, 2012, election. He has long backed liberal causes - the Open Society Institute, the foreign policy think tank Council on Foreign Relations and Human Rights Watch.

According to disclosure documents from 2007-2009, Soros' Open Society gave grants of $3.5 million to the Tides Center, a San Francisco-based group that acts almost like a clearing house for other donors, directing their contributions to liberal non-profit groups. Among others the Tides Center has partnered with are the Ford Foundation and the Gates Foundation.

Disclosure documents also show Tides, which declined comment, gave Adbusters grants of $185,000 from 2001-2010, including nearly $26,000 between 2007-2009.

So far, the only major accomplishment of the "Occupy Wall Street" protesters is that they have finally put an end to their previous initiative, "Occupy Our Mothers' Basements."

Oddly enough for such a respectable-looking group -- a mixture of adolescents looking for a cause, public sector union members, drug dealers, criminals, teenage runaways, people who have been at every protest since the Berkeley Free Speech Movement, Andrea Dworkin look-alikes, people 95 percent of whose hair is concentrated in their ponytails and other average Democrats -- they can't even explain what they're protesting.

The protesters either treat inquiries about their purpose as a trick question, or -- worse -- instantly rattle off a series of insane causes: "No. 1, abolish capitalism; No. 2, because 9/11 was an inside job; No. 3, because Mumia is innocent ..."

Curiously, the only point universally agreed upon by the protesters and their admirers in the Democratic Party and the mainstream media is that "Occupy Wall Street" should be compared to the tea party. Yes, that would be the same tea party that has been denounced and slandered by the Democratic Party and the mainstream media for the last three years.

As a refresher: The Democratic National Committee called the tea partiers "angry mobs" and "rabid right-wing extremists." ABC said they were a "mob." CNN accused them of "rabble rousing." Harry Reid called them "evil mongers." Nancy Pelosi said they were "un-American." CNN's Anderson Cooper and every single host on MSNBC called the tea partiers a name that referred to an obscure gay sex act.

But apparently liberals couldn't even convince themselves that tea partiers were an extremist group unworthy of emulation.

On Tuesday, Glenn Beck defended his controversial remarks that Occupy Wall Street protesters would "kill" the wealthy.

He had given a stark warning about the Occupy Wall Street movement on Monday, painting protesters as "Marxist radicals" who would "drag you into the streets and kill you." Rachel Maddow, among others, has mocked Beck for his gruesome warning.

On Tuesday, Beck reiterated that he stands by his controversial remarks. He said that he was not talking about all of the protesters, but that some were very well "Marxist revolutionaries" and that his warning pertained to the protests spiraling out of control. Referring to political leaders who do not have the foresight to see the storm coming, he also warned, "These people are dangerous."

He then ticked off what he said were the crimes committed by Marxist revolutionaries, including Che Guevara, Mao and Stalin. Echoing his earlier warning about the Occupy Wall Street protesters, he said, "Do you know why people starved to death in the Ukraine? You know why socialism never works? Because they kill all the people who know how to make things. They kill all the industrialists. They kill them all. They drag them in the streets and kill them."

Coming back to the protests in New York, he said, "It ends in violence with Marxists every single time the same way" and alleged that demonstrations of Marxism were "wrapped in hate." He then went on to say that unlike the protests, his criticism of President Obama was never "personal" and alleged that President Obama is "a die-hard Marxist."

"A Kentucky Republican has posted a rather disturbing comment on Facebook about the Wall Street protesters. Steve Frank, city commissioner of Covington, Kentucky apparently feels like killing the protesters occupying Wall Street just as the Taliban feels like killing American soldiers in Afghanistan.

In a post on October 9th, Frank wrote, "Turn out the lights on the Occupiers, I feel like going Taliban on them!!! The Taliban, as they see it is resisting occupation. I am resisting the Occupiers and very proud to be a 1%'er."


Yup. There are actual American legislators who want to "go Taliban on" the Occupation. What would that entail, exactly? Does he want to use suicide bombers? Or does he just want a few kidnappings and decapitations? Frank was not specific on which Taliban-sanctioned methods he prefers.
