There are a couple of threads going on about this, but there are more not being discussed, or mentioned.

It seems like, over the last couple of days, many cities have decided to take some action:

Atlanta, GA
Atlanta police arrest around 50 anti-Wall Street protesters
Mayor Kasim Reed, Dem

Oakland, CA
Occupy Oakland: Police raid encampment, arrest dozens
Mayor Jean Quan, Dem

Chicago, IL

Police arrest '(Un)Occupy Albuquerque' protesters
Mayor Richard Berry, Rep

They are gathered in Grand Circus Park here, but I have not heard anything about arrests. Personally I would think the cops in Detroit have better things to do but we just got started so who knows.

Not sure what it is that cons think changes from a relative few arrests.

Even if half of them get arrested,it still means they`re going to vote and be heard,arrest or not.

It shows to me that these folks are a bit more passionate and commited to their cause, than the tea-baggers are to their`s.

I wounder how many tea-baggers would be willing to be arrested?

But if counting the number of arrests flaots your boat,lol,.....have fun.

Does anyone else see the timing of the arrests as suspicious? All these independent protests goping for weeks in some cases and then, all of a sudden, BOOM. Multiple cities across the country crack down simultaneously. They're acting independently right?

Who is pulling the strings here? I hate to arouse the tinfoil hat crowd but I don't believe in coincidence.

Has there been one of those governors or mayors meetings/conferences recently? That could be one reason.

My other thought is that they may be trying to crack down because Halloween is in a few days. Lots of children will be out and they may be worried about predators. I know there is all sorts of rules for folks on the sex predators list on Halloween, and so they may want to be sure that there is no crossover.

The Haloween thing is kind of a 'reach' Aylee. I mean, how many trick or treaters are out of big cities anyway and especially downtown?

By the way, I don't know if I said it in the other thread but I'm REALLY happy you finally got the little one home where he belongs.

That IS interesting, servant. I didn't notice that. Larger cities, though, do tend to have more liberal politicians in power at any given time (the reasons could fill another thread) but ALL of them is quite interesting.

I have no idea really. We just trick-or-treat in the neighborhood. I do know that there is a trick-or-treat-street for downtown here, we went one year, but I did not care for it. I know that parks are being occupied and I figured that ten and twelve year olds would be out in force to teepee trees and such. That and anything that downtown areas might have going on for kids. Of course, Lawrence only has about 100,000 people and I have no idea how the larger cities do things. I think KC has something happening on the Plaza though.

Thank you. We are pretty happy about it as well. A little surprised, as we had been expecting his release on about the 28th. I am a bit OCD so everything was purchased and ready (yes there are special things that preemies need). The only left to do was to bring the bassinet down from my office and place a sheet in it. Roscoe had his "meet your doctor" appointment yesterday, further instructions from him were given, and he seems to be settling down from the stress of being moved. I think that his circumcision (that was on Sunday) is feeling better as well. So things are going well. Thank you again.

I couldn't agree more. The 1% ruining the economy causes many people to be laid off including police. These protesters are fighting for police too and get arrested for it. I guess police want to continue losing their jobs, What dumb asses.

The pictures posted up showed pretty clearly that it was the cops doing the trashing and preventing of free assembly and free speech.

Damn straight. I mean, who really wants to work at becoming part of the 1% anyways. The odds on that are 1 out of 100. I would not even buy a lottery ticket with those odds.

The 99% should just take away the money that the 1% has. Even if it means being beat to a pulp because the 1% can hire big thugs to prevent that.

I believe oakland city hall and surrounding turf to be public property.
