I greatly prefer water to most other drinks.  I've probably had a bit over a half gallon today, but my day's not nearly over.  I truly enjoy a glass of chilled water, especially if it has fresh lemon in it.

I'll occasionally treat myself to a pop, usually Mountain Dew, and I have an admitted weakness for tea or coffee of any variety (hot, iced, lukewarm, whatever), but nothing beats good ol' H20.

ArtCatDom  - why would I need a source?  If I say water is vital- then that my opinion. If you prefer soda pop- go for it. Choice is a wonderful thing.

Regions have faught over potable water sources.

As long as I decided I dont need sources- - the average person has 5-40lbs of gook in their colon. A good colon clease does wonders. This sentiment is like the black gook in a drain pipe. Due to western diet- we dont expel the resisue- feces en total. It adheres and buillds up. This can cause a toxic effect. 5-40 lbs.

I recommend a good colon cleanse twice a year.

hugs to all!

Dood...drink heavily and piss hourly...you won't eat and the colon is pure...next question?
[;)]geez, I should be gettin paid for this...Kevin

I drink a lot, I go through a gallon every day or two depending how much I'm doing and how hot it is.

pahunkboy -> RE: Drinking water question (5/25/2006 7:23:24 PM)

Subjected2006.  Yup!  You are correct. baby food contains HUGE amount of sugar.  The sugar, cotton, and beef industry are huge in the USA.

Oprah did a show on mad cow disease a few years ago. The sued her azz in court. Some states enacted libel laws against food commodities.

Hemp is a better fiber then cotten. But the cotten industry wont here of it.

Bextra, nueontin, recently- contraversial via the FDA, whom supposedly serves the public. [remember thalitmide?]

If I drink soda pop- does the pool full of young pretty friends come with it?  no. Over time- the western diet- leads to illness- so we pop a pill.  food and drug indursty.
so if i am dehydrated and grab a candy bar- rather then a glass of water- ......that would explain why so many Americans are obese.

Some may ballyhoo the troff, [all you can eat buffet] but some of us dont fit in seats in public anymore. restatrants, airplanes.....coffins.

Moderation. Soda- is ment to be an occassion beverage. Not a life force.

Right?  ;-)

All the sugars in juice and soda;s are not healthy for you. They serve no purpose medically than to fill you up with tons of sugar

Hence the practice of hospital nurses giving cranky newborns bottles of sugar water to quiet them.  It's actually quite a destructive practice, especially to breastfed newborns, as it doesn't take much at all to fill a new baby up, and can easily detract from real feeding time.  The practice gives babies empty calories and fills them up so that they're not hungry at feeding time later when they would have gotten the nutrition they need.

feastie -> RE: Drinking water question (5/25/2006 7:29:09 PM)

LOL...my babies wouldn't take sugar water.

You were the one who made assertions that over 80% of people are constantly dehydrated, that coffee affects the adrenal system adversely, that remote tribe have better health and a number of other falsehoods. If you want to assert pseudoscience as fact, I'm going to call you on it. If you want to put forward your own opinion, then do so. However, you are not just putting forward an opinion but also presenting false factoids as actual fact.

Also please note that I did not dispute that water was vital, at all. I simply put forward that our bodies are more than capable of extracting the water from simple solutions.

I also take clear note that you follow up with more pseudoscientific bull****. Your claims about the colon are more quack medicine. There is no build-up in the colon due to a Western, or any other diet. Your claims are a myth.

My Mom gave it to me for years.  It wasn't so bad when I got older, but she had some trouble breastfeeding me because of it.  Then again, not knowing what we know now, she thought nothing of it at the time.

In the face of pure lunacy all logic fails.  Bow to the great water gods and they will cleanse your body and keep you healthy so that you can live a long life.  If you aren't hit by a bus you can look forward to having your diapers changed by an irate orderly who doesn't really give a shit about you.  Congratulations.

Me... I prefer to enjoy life as it is now.  I eat what I like.  I drink as I like.  I love as I like.  I plan on having a heart attack before I have to retire, and sincerely hope its while having sex!  Life was meant to be lived.  Counting how many oz of water I've drank today is not life.  Counting how many strokes I've given her is!

Have a nice day...

Wow.

It will never cease to amaze me how threatening it is to some people to be confronted with facts.

That might explain some of why people are fat, but why are people who don't eat candy bars cakes ice creams puddings jello's or any comercial "sweets" fat.

Right now- and I mean NOW. How many ounces of drinking water have you drank today?  [coffee, soda, tea, juice do NOT count]

To figure out- ---correct amount.  Divide you weight by 2. If you weight 100 lbs- you should consumer 50 ounces of water in a day.

80% of America is dehydrated, and sickly- over time- needs meds---

Spill it. How many ounces.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/water101/

I try to drink 100  to 110 ounces a day , but it doesn't always happen - I make sure to do at least 64, though!

I'm sure not here to insult anyone, but you can better believe that water is the essence of life -  and it's damn good for you!

This is what you get for trying to throw needless and stupid factual information into a discussion that is largely based in fiction. You must be insane!

Since soda is claimed to be taboo, I am wondering what the OP would have to say about seltzer water. Seltzer is all that I drink for the most part, I do drink plain water, iced tea and coffee, fruit juices and on a rare occasion I will drink soda. But I consume about three to four liters of seltzer a day. The seltzer I drink is naturally flavored and there are no sweeteners like sugar or Splenda in it.

Well Hot damn!  A man who thinks exactly as I do, except for the heart attack part...  Although I do say that if I need heart surgery at some point, I'll come off the ventilator quickly since I don't smoke, lol.
I value the quality of my life much more than the quantity of it...  I prefer to enjoy my life every day, rather than an  ultracareful hypochondriac so I can live miserably to be 101, yuck.

Having said that, I will admit to having this particular good habit, that water is the only beverage I drink plenty of and every day... When it isn't water, it usually is coffee or alcohol related.   M

Kedikat -> RE: Drinking water question (5/26/2006 1:13:12 AM)

Why does only plain water count?
Many animals get all their fluid needs without actually drinking water. Some drinks do induce accelerated fluid loss, but not all. And a body in dire need of H2O will retain more if needed, even if other fluids are taken in.

I wonder how desert bedouins survive in such good health? I suspect they are somewhat dehydrated as well.

Maybe it isn't just the amount of H2O, but a balance of H2O to all the other crap that you need to flush out. Eat less and better, and maybe less water would be needed to clean out the system?

If you're going to tell someone to kiss your ass, could you do me the courtesy of spelling ass correctly and replying to the correct person?

Of course, that's assuming you weren't responding to me.  If you were, I'd be happy to.  Bend over.  My steel-toed boot is puckering up.

pahunkboy -> RE: Drinking water question (5/26/2006 9:57:04 AM)

I used to chug a 2 liter bottle of diet pepsi every day. The I got an ulcer and gall bladder removal. Acid reflux bigtime.

Seltzer water- I would have to check- I thought it had quinine in it.

Ok- here is how I know the water hydration  works.  I drive i80 many times PA to Chicago. 640 miles- 12 hours.  Over Christmas I drove out. I was amazed. [keep in mind this is after at least 30 day regiment] I did not need as many breaks. My stamina was better. While I did snack during the drive. I did not stop for a full meal until I reached Chicago. I have made that trip some 30 times- minumum. In the past I always had to grab a mean en route. not a snack. a meal.

Since this regiment- my taste buds have come back. Water is not icky. A dr pepper is icky to my taste buds.

Listen up- when they say treat your body like a temple- I have treated mine more like a casino.

I still indulge in junk food.

Just the lessening of processed foods in my life- has improved me. [the casino]

Cocoa in chocolate is a good antioxident. BUT American chocolate is too sweet. I make my own lattes.

I am all for pleasures in life.  [but] chugging pepsi all day was a wrong choice for me.

I see there are some intelegent people- whom are very kind. Thanks!

Hold your head up high. Y'all ROCK!

Turbo
