ORIGINAL: searching4mysir Add to that the fact that in much of the world children are breastfed past the age of two (which gives them the missing nutrients that they aren't getting from their food). Children are often picky eaters because they are allowed to be. Now if there are actual food allergies involved, that is a different story, but even breastmilk will provide the missing nutrients that those foods the child is allergic to would normally give them. Providing the mother isn't eating any of those foods that child is allergic to. I had a prem baby that was so allergic to my breast milk that it nearly killed him. Basically he was allergic to dairy products, gluten's, nuts and anything with tomato in it. To continue feeding him I had to go on a gluten free, dairy free, nut free and tomato free diet and believe me it was tough but when your child needs you to do this you simply do it without question. Whatever you eat, you pass that on to your child trough your breast milk. You can very easily poison your baby if he has allergies.
