Hello all,

I have looked and looked and searched and searched, but I can't figure out where to adjust my preferences for receiving emails every time someone responds to a thread I am subscribed to or a new user is discovered in my neck of the woods. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Thanks and Happy Halloween / Samhain!

From this page, look above the thread... see the flags... just above that, go to profile. That is your profile on this side. Go down to posting or something like that. You will see a number of things listed there that you can click. You will find it there.

On the top right of the page, below where it says "Collarchat.com -BDSM Forum" there is a hyperlink for "my subscription". Click on that and unclick the sections you no longer want to recieve updates on.

Then click "My Forums" also at the top right. It will take you to page that has the individual threads you have flagged for subscription notifications. Click on the threads listed under subscriptions, and at the right where the "subscribe" link would be, there is now a "Remove Subscription" link instead. Click on it and it will remove your subscription to that particular thread.

To remove new user notifications for your area, go to your profile and click on "Newest Local Users" on the left menu. Below the list of user profiles there are two check boxes, one says "Highlight the 'Newest Local Users' button when local users join the site" and the other says "Send email notifications when local users join the site" make sure the "Send email notifications when local users join the site" is not clicked. The website should automatically refresh the page when you click or unclick one of these boxes.

You are welcome.

Thanks Lockit!

Thanks Endivius!

I promise to put your advice to use as soon as I am not falling over tired. I couldn't be on much recently, but really do appreciate your efforts at helping me keep in check my run away e-mail account that was filling up at a blistering pace!

I will re-post when I reel it all in effectively.

Ok, I am more confused than ever. I think part of the problem is that I would like to stay subscribed to threads I post in and have them be listed in My Forums, but not get an email every time someone posts a new post. If anyone has been following the "Blackmail" thread, you know how fast those emails add up. Is this possible? Or does the option under My Profile/My Preferences/Posting Preferences - "Always subscribe to threads when I post" mean you will automatically get email?

If I don't select that option, and just manually subscribe to a thread when I post (I can do that), do any checks in the next section "Subscription Preferences" mean I will be getting email? If so, there is no box to select saying "Don't notify  me".

Again, I would prefer not to receive email yet stay subscribed to threads so when I log on I can go to My Forums and see what threads are active from there.

I hope someone can help as my scientific method of trial and error is not going so well.

Thanks Much,

-Sasha

If you subscribe to a single thread:
Thread subscription preference
Notify me whenever a message is posted
Notify me once per thread until I visit the thread again
Notify me once per thread until I visit the thread again or until I visit the board the next time

You want option 2 or 3 for the least amount of emails. There is no "keep me subscribed but don't notify me".

Also, you can use an alternate free email account for "throwaway" things like this (on your profile on this side). You might log in once a week and delete everything in your inbox, just to keep your subscription active.

Ok thanks much ModTwentyOne.

That was driving me nuts. Glad I sought more help. I guess I will go with least emails option and alternate free address.
