All the Black Friday commercials are making me crazy...I haven't seen anything for Cyber Monday. What are y'all doing, if anything? I can't be bothered, myself.

I have 5 more categories and am taking requests.

Add a category that says "get rid of your TV".  That is my antidote to commercials making me crazy.

I do most of My holiday shopping throughout there year. I don't like feeling rushed or dealing with large groups of shoppers crammed into an area. The deals this time of year just aren't worth it to Me.

I voted that I piss on it all.  After losing mom at this time of year, I have made it all about just being with what little bit of family I have left, both bio and otherwise.

Gift giving is sparse, and is something small that I know they will love.  The gifts I get are all the same types of things.

I saw a commercial today for some store, and it was saying "You won't believe the gifts we have for around $100.00".

All I could think was WTF?!?!?  That is supposed to be a good thing?

That's how it should be. I get each of my kids something little ($20 each), something for the Ex to thank her for all the work she puts in for my kids ($50), and nothing for anybody else. I get large numbers of cheap socks from the Ex & my daughter (though I asked for underwear this year...and my daughter's boyfriend wants to buy me a box of beer), a hand made card from one son, and some strange little knick-knack from the other son. And you know what? These are the best Christmases of my life, because it IS finally about family.

I am on a limited income and can't spend that much on stuff.  Hence me making gifts for the kiddos.

Sure Lizard wants the new Marvel vs. Capcom game...but she needs to learn about budgeting which is more important than some game.

ummmm.. I am afraid i dont quite get how not having a tv makes much or any difference... we have internet which has replaced it for me (for now anyway).. you can watch certain tv shows on CBS and CW and hulu and crackle etc etc... and news vids on msn, yahoo, etc and since they are "free", they come with commercials too..

not that i am trying to be nit picky or anything..

JstAnotherSub- i have seen that ad too but i thought she said for under $100,.. i dont know if i heard that right or not but that was my impression.. if that is what she said then it could be any amount under $100 which makes more sense, so people can buy several things that add up to that (apparently) magic number..

eta- ok, it was driving me nutz... i had to go looking for the freakin ad!

the one i saw was from Best Buy and it does say under $100.. but since its best buy, harder to find a lot of really low priced stuff, other than cds/dvds i guess..

Black Friday, Cyber Monday... All bullshit in my opinion. Get the mass of rats to kill each other over what they think is a good deal on a TV or lawnmower or ipod.

I have never been shopping on black friday - wouldn't do it on the threat of death!!  Nothing is worth that craziness.  And now stores are opening on bloody thanksgiving day!!!!!!!  Unbelievable.

I do shop on cyber monday however.  Cyber monday has no crowds and crazy people to deal with --     I do have an aunt however who is one of those crazy people who sit outside waiting for stores to open lol.  No thanks.

I stay far away from the stores on Black Friday. I've never taken part and have no desire.

That is the one I saw too I think.  I heard $100.00 and zoned out.  Under $20.00 would impress me.

Nit picker!

I did black Friday once with my dad, they live in a small town and the only store is really Walmart. There wasn't anyone standing outside in line or anything. It actually turned into a cute story we tell people from time to time, that the two people who utterly hate shopping, did black Friday all for a mini VW kid car for the only grandchild at the time.

If you are in my family and I buy you something worth $100 you know damn well that I will want to borrow it. That's because collectively we have damnear everything. Six floors of junk, and next year I think we are going to have the miost successful garage sale in history. like Sanford, Florida - in July.

Those stores really have nothing for me. Plus all the best sales come out after Christmas. The family has a not for Christmas policy. If my Ma gets me something before Christmas and doesn't give it to me before Christmas she must wait until after Christmas. That's the rules. But she could tell me what she got me and think maybe I will get all enthgused and want it now, and I'm sure she would say "Fuck you, you started this not for Christmas shit". We get along pretty good.

The real Christmas isn't for a couple few months yet anyway.

I just saw the commercial and it was for best buy and it was gifts for under $100.  Now that may  seem like a lot but for a store like best buy which can be seen as a high dollar store because it sells electronics, televisions, game counsels etc which can be very expensive, to me, that commercial just reminds people that they sell smaller things also.  I don't think that it's focusing on saying under 100 bucks is cheap but instead want to remind people it sells lower dollar items also.

All I really want is yarn and ink for the printer.  I put the last cartridge in last night.

Target Corp. received six red-and-white Target bags full of petitions Monday signed by 190,000 people to protest stores opening for "Black Friday" sales at midnight, the morning after Thanksgiving.

The petitions, delivered by Target employee Seth Coleman to a representative at the retailer's Minneapolis headquarters, were the result of an effort started by Anthony Hardwick, an Omaha, Nebraska employee who said the store's decision to advance its "Black Friday" opening time interfered with family gatherings.

"Thanksgiving is a holiday for family to get together," said Hardwick, 29. "If you're having your employees show up at 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, they're going to spend their day sleeping so they can get ready for the busiest shopping day of the year."
