i'm about to get collared by the Domme of my dreams, but there's a rather big problem: at my work, everybody has to go through the metal detector - there are no exceptions... W/we want to get a permanent locking collar, but taking it off and on every time i go to work would be pretty ridiculous... i searched this forum and haven't found any threads on this topic - i'm hoping somebody here has already found an elegant solution to this problem.

Are there locking collars made out of non-detectable alloys? Or maybe made out of something other than metal, e.g. wooden or hard-plastic locking collars?

Thanks in advance! :)

What about a locking leather collar - some thing like these - http://www.amazon.com/Strict-Leather-Black-Locking-Collar/dp/B001R5DQZS
http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/122524350/Slave_Dress_Collar.html
http://www.noirluna.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=87_89

Or if you have a particular metal design in mind - consider having it made in leather.

There are surgical titanium collars that clear a metal detector. However, most security screeners and certainly the TSA will still make you remove the collar. The new airport xray machines also require you to remove them. While a collar is meaningful and very important in our sub culture, Dom/Dommes and subs may need to devise something new to wear for subs who travel a lot or go through security screenings on a regular basis. Some Doms are fine with the situation believeing that the inconvience and humiliation of a pat down is good for a sub or slave.
Kisses,
Tina Marie

A friend has a chainmaille collar made of rubbery rings. No metal, but still has a substantial look. Your Domme could just put it on you without the clasp, and fix it together with another ring.

That hasn't been my experience.  I've been in courthouses, police stations, and flew cross country recently and didn't have to remove my collar.  The one time I was even asked about it I said 'it doesn't come off without tools' and I was waved through after a hand scan.

Do they look like this? http://passionaltoys.com/store/images/AXMTALENA.jpg

i'm okay with the TSA and courthouses - just don't want to flash my collar at work. Thinking of wearing turtlenecks or chin-high zip-up jackets to conceal it, which is why it's paramount that it can pass a metal detector.

That's an excellent idea, thanks! :)

There's a style of plastic clasp that looks sort of like a padlock that is "permanent" in that it has to be snipped once it's put in place, that gets used for tamper-evident seals on things like first aid kits and circuit breakers. Not sure where to find them (or even if they still exist these days), but one of those set in an all leather or nylon collar might look quite handsome, and has the advantage of being easily snipped off in an emergency.

They're definitely still available but there is really nothing handsome about these things.

Hi!
I did see some heavy acrylic (perspex) restraints on ebay a while ago.
The China-based vendor was offering such things as a transparent shrew's fiddle,
a collar too, if I remember rightly.
Quite striking, but I doubt they would be practical for long term wear...

Try a non-ferrous metal like aluminum. House of collars sells them :)

Nylon webbing from the climbing department at R.E.I. and sew the ends together.

There may just be a niche market here. There is some fantastic plastic out there. there are guns made of plastic. Also I read an article years ago that experiumental engines (the car kind) were being planned at least built out of plastic, with ceramic cylinder sleeves actually. I'm not sure what they were after but it was probably partly lighter weight. IIRC though it was also to be a special engine that ran very very hot by design and was supposed to be incredibly efficient. I think they said steel would not take the heat (?!?). Not that it would melt, but it would warp.

A collar would not need to withstand heat, but it shows to go you just how far they have come with plastics.
