The thing is, if you have a predisposition, you will have noticed long before your 30's. There has been a bit of a panic around vit C in the past few years, but most healthy people simply excrete too much of it through the urine with no side effects. Also it depends very much on the person and the current lifestyle or circumstances how much vit C you need, smokers need a lot more of it, stressed people or athletes need more of it, while it won't cure a flu or a cold, it can help your body to deal with it. I'm not suggesting that people take vit C pills by the handful, but in my case, I think it's prudent to take a slow release vit C pill in the morning. Mind you, all I'm doing is trying to give my body some help, so I'm in top condition and therefore less in danger to pick up something during the flight or the airports, like giving up coffee (which made me a bit grouchy for 2 days but then it was fine), I'm not relying on a wonder drug or expecting spectacular results immediately, just giving my body every help I can so I'm not prone to infections. My friend thinks I'm over cautious, a surgeon I talked to said it can't harm and when it comes to organ transplant patients one can never be too careful.
