Having multiple genital piercings, I can speak on this for you --
One, genital piercings heal rather quickly. Hood piercings -- 2 to 3 weeks. A labia piercing, inner -- 4 wks, outer -- 6 wks. Triangles, fourchettes and princess albertinas require more healing time, as they are deep tissue pierces.
Two, most piercists recommend that genital piercings not be constrained for at least the first SIX months. This means the dominant has to have some sense not to wreck what s/he is building.
Three, infection doesn't happen if there is genital hygeine. Proper cleaning, proper piercing care, and common sense are all important. My rules for my piercings, as for those of my pets -- no body fluids other than that of the wearer make contact (including saliva, cum and piss) and keeping filthy fingers (male and female) away from the piercings. Protected sexual contact and gloves only, even in fluid-bound individuals, keeps the piercings healthy.
My personal preference, if I were to chasten a female, would be bilateral inner labia to a triangle, locked, or better, fastened together with a welded ring (NOT a CBR that could be popped out.) However, given that only about 5% of the female population are laid out for a triangle....and the inner labia aren't all that well laid out either, it's going to be a rare girl that is able to carry off that piercing. What I prefer and what she's laid out for are two entirely separate things. I'm sure that I'd wind up working with the piercist to find the right combination for the flesh that I'm marking.
