I am having a problem with HUGE spacing between paragraphs when I try to make a journal entry. Admittedly, I am copy-and-pasting from my Microsoft Word program.

I am familiar with the markup tags and I was wondering if there is a way that we could be able to edit that, directly, ourselves.

If there isn't a way to do that, already, could I ask that such a change be implemented?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Copy from word into notepad and then copy and paste here, that gets rid of any word formatting that is in conflict.

Are you double-spacing between paragraphs?
If I double-space, then it comes out as quadruple. :p
Try just reducing it to a single paragraph break, rather than double.

Or copy your text to notepad first, then to CM. The formatting here can be wacky...

One of the helpful hints I received when I had a similar issue a few months back was using the
SHIFT ENTER keys simultaneously at the very end of the sentence to make a single paragraph space.

Hang on. If you just copy and paste to notepad and then copy and paste to here it does nothing. You have to save the file, reopen it and copy FROM notepad. Some people think it's stupid not to know this, but it's not.

Also if you got decent late twentieth century internet that's reliable you can just compose online. Their funky little editor leaves something to be desired but at least you usually get the result you want. Even if you got a long and involved/boring story, you can save, but you just save it on their drive instead of yours, then you just edit like you would in Word.

The only thing that fucks you up is if you get kicked off the internet.

T^T

ETA:

Dunno if this would help but I just copied the first part of your profile text to both notepad and Word. Word shows it with no paragraph breaks and notepad shows it with repeated or multiplied linefeeds. I also noticed when marking the text in the beginning that there were line feeds that seemed to have a space or something in the beginning.

The funny part about all of this is that it's the same problem since the 1980s, friggin DOS and UNIX can't agree on the linefeed issue. Over thirty years and the dumbshits still haven't figured it out. They shoulda dealt with that before Al Gore invented the internet.

This is how the same appears here, which I won't see until Is hit OK.

Trying to summarize myself in a few paragraphs is a very daunting undertaking! I DETEST this process. There is so much that gets left out and so much that, possibly, shouldn't be included.

I'm a walking contradiction but I'm not contradictory except in my very existance.

I'm old-fashioned in ways but, my grandparents would roll over in their graves, if they read this profile. I'm tragically hip but I shun modern trends.
