Either way, the US could be energy independent, massively reduce greenhouse emissions and other pollutants, have plenty of oil for our manufacturing future and we could watch those bastards that have had us by the short and curlies for the last half century starve. Righ now we produce maybe half of what we use and the oil companies charge us the same price as those whom we import from. If we become energy self suffucient it would seem to me that the oil/energy companies have no incentive to charge less than what "the traffic will bear". The advantage to being energy self sufficient seems to be that you get to choose who you want to fuck you....or did I miss something?
