Sweetie, almost all of your questions are about your ass today.
Have the two of you met yet?

Stick with warm (not hot--burns up there can be serious business...and not cold...you can get cramps...not fun)
Use caution adding elements to your enema.  This includes soap, coffee or alcohol--esp. alcohol--I know there are folks who love to do this (add a bit of wine) but remember that it is absorbed much faster into your system.  Personally--no on the soap--warm water alone is fine. If you need something to help clean you out, use a saline or mineral oil enema--they make them single-use, over-the-counter.

If you are a beginner, try a Fleet's brand.  Available in any pharmacy, OTC.  They come pre-loaded with sterile saline that contains a mild laxative but they are very easy to self-administer, pre-lubed and have easy to follow instructions.

OP, you can put a pinch of salt or baking soda in the water of a small-volume enema, but it's really not necessary. And don't do these too often, 'k? Not good for your system.

Most online places suggest at least using saline (salt water). I get along fine usually using just warm water. If you're trying to do large volumes (4 quarts), relaxing is critical to taking it all. It can take a long time to expel a full enema so be careful with doing anything anal related shortly afterwards. If you're just doing normal sized toys/people then using a fleet enema bottle with water in it over and over will do well enough without you having to worry about accidents afterwards.

It may not be fun for the sub, but I know a few sadists who think that is the best part.

When I used to do coffee enemas for liver detoxification, I always felt the stimulating effects of the caffeine, despite directions always saying I wouldn't.

There is a forum that has lots of information on enemas:

Exactly--it's why some folks should exercise caution if they add anything to their enema.  For some, that quick introduction of caffeine is not such a good thing for them.

Apart from everything hausboy said, enemas are so not rocket science, don't put anything in an enema that you wouldn't put into your mouth and swallow, and be aware that the colon absorbs much more effective and quicker. To put it rather blunt, a glass of wine in an enema can be the equivalent of drinking a bottle or 2 - unless you fancy alcohol poisoning, I wouldn't go near it. If you are a beginner, stick with regular stuff like warm water or maybe herbal teas.

It will smell (shouldn't stink the whole house or anything), and expelling it can be loud. It's nice and relaxing (to me), but at the end of the day you're doing your business with the expected downsides. As long as you can hide/excuse those two things it shouldn't be an issue. Relaxing is a big part of being able to hold a sizable enema though so if you can't with them around probably better to wait till you're completely alone.
