Fried crickets are normal (and yummy once you overcome the crunch factor). Weird is Japanese Cruel Cuisine.....

Appy: sashimi. Life fish is sliced up, put back on the bone and presented with gills flopping for oxygen. Eat the flesh before the head dies.
Soup: hell tofu. Three ingredients: boiling hot pork broth, ice cold cube of tofu and a live spearing. Combine. Spearing burrows into tofu to escape the boiling broth, then is cooked as the tofu is heated. Apapapapa: take live abalone. place on hibachi grill. The abalone makes a popping noise as it tries to keep its flesh off of the grill surface. Hence the name, which is onomatopeic.

We in the West have centuries to go to catch up to the wisdom of Asia.

I find the cooking live food disgusting, repulsive and sadistic in not a good way. And that includes boiling lobster alive.

To the OP - earlier ginger was mentioned. Perhaps you'd enjoy putting ginger nut biscuits up your butt. That'd be like a cross between the crisps and the ginger root.
