Eh, Fawk Rihanna and her S&M song.

Anyone else ever notice some lifestyle tendencies in music?
Often times whenever I listen to Nine Inch Nails I can't help but be reminded of BDSM, Master & slave lifestyles, etc
The song Discipline for example or Sunspots off the top of my head.
Another song called "I Want Your Blood" by an industrial band Combichrist for example I'm very certain is of such?

Anyone else ever wonder about some songs and if they're derived from such?

Judas Priest - Evil Fantasies

As you were. That is all.

There have been a few other threads that talked about. There are a lot of artists that make it not so clear and some that make it very clear what they are talking about. A list of a few I have posted on those threads would be...

Last Caress - The Misfits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gurtxUTmevE

Dragula - Rob Zombie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqQuihD0hoI&ob=av2e

Enter Sandman - Metallica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL4ch9Wyg3w&feature=fvst

Animal - Def Leppard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djv5GJndscI (or pretty much anything else of Hysteria)

Gimme Gimme - The lords of acid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um_W0MkNijQ

Unskinny Bop - Poison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk5y4wvsLyY&ob=av2e

Sex and Violence - The Exploited http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHRfzJtdmq4 ......

And the list could go on, and on, and on, for a very long time.

I'm surprised no one would mention the music of Enigma?

I know it may be hard to believe, but I was once a stripper. I am not ashamed of it, nor am I proud of it...but back in the day...I did an awesome set to Mouth by Bush. It was bondage related...

It does seem that a lot of the songs by Nine Inch Nails feature subtle or more explicit references to BDSM (e.g. Happiness in Slavery from the early EP "Broken"). Another track I reckon is overlooked because it was very explicitely about the subject at a time (1979) when it was rarely dealt with in song is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74VhcPr_sO4

Higuysitsme -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 3:07:13 AM)

I'm into the classical stuff myself. How about these two........

I like the Def Leppard track MIP; can't actually play a lot of your choices in the UK unfortunately. Sex and violence is catchy - I'm working on learning the words! lol. Lords of Acid - smoking video!

bighappygoth39 -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 8:19:26 AM)

Fetish-Joan Jett

I think she makes it pretty clear in that song...

Master and Servant-Depeche Mode

Another one that's pretty blatant. Either way, I love them both. [:D]

Ninebelowzero -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 8:26:32 AM)

Really I missed that in the lyrics somehow.

bighappygoth39 -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 8:38:28 AM)

Listen to them vewy carefully... [:D]

Ninebelowzero -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 8:50:08 AM)

LMAO!

bighappygoth39 -> RE: BDSM in music (12/29/2011 4:17:03 PM)

There's loads more I could mention that are pretty blatant. It's the more subtle references in music I'm finding it hard to pinpoint... I have tried, but I can't seem to do subtle. [:D]

Ninebelowzero -> RE: BDSM in music (12/30/2011 12:55:32 AM)

Being an LP bloke it's difficult to pick out tracks that stick out but for general sleazery theres Zappa's Joes Garage & ABC's Lexicon of Love & Beauty Stab. Oh & Have we forgot Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Oh c'mon, there's plenty more Priest songs than just that.

Eat Me Alive comes to mind. That song caused quite a bit of controversy. They didn't play that one live for 25 years. Halford's solo work, the albums Resurrection and Crucible, are also full of BDSM references and influences.

Also Hooks In You by Iron Maiden.

quietcuriosity -> RE: BDSM in music (12/31/2011 6:54:00 PM)

For me Nickelbacks Savin' Me strikes a chord, quite literally.

For more modern, and not so subtle songs:

Lady Gaga - Teeth
