I was directed here by a friendly voice from another site. I've been trying to navigate around the place and just trying to figure things out. There's a lot of things to fill out in the interests area!

I'm pretty new to all this and just very curious. Not sure if I'm a sub or Dom. Some days I feel on top and some days I feel like going with the flow.

Any advice on places to chat here would be great! I really enjoy posting in forums more than IMs because I get to write longer replies. Is there an rp area here, by the way?

Hello, welcome and good luck in your journey. Probably a good idea to look up the subjects of 'sub' and 'dom' on the boards, to start getting a little more idea of what appeals to you. There are chatrooms which may take the form of rp, although I tend to find people are usually talking about anything but bdsm in them! Enjoy anyway.

Erhm, does anyone know how people can see that I'm online? When I go view my profile, my inbox gets flooded immediately, and some people are a bit pushy to get a response. I sometimes like to just lurk and view profiles or come here, but I also feel bad that they think they're being ignored.

Don't worry about if people get their panties in a knot over your response time. Basic human courtesy is all they should expect. Answer at your leisure. One neat little trick is to hover over their name in your inbox and you should be able to read most, if not all, of the message without triggering a read on their end. Then you can decide if you want to "delete unread" (for the complete obnoxious assholes) or read later. I do try to respond immediately if I trigger a read, which is why I really like that hover thingie.

Thank you searching4mysir! That tip has helped immensely. The hover thing is really cool! I realised it works for profile names and the forums here as well. :D I hope it's worked, since it's mainly one user who keeps doing it. Just deleted unread another one of their "Oh I see you online, let me sPaM you again" messages.

Sure, kfaith88! Actually, I was thinking of joining my local munch. Then I was thinking... Why is it called a munch? Such a cute word for something BDSM related. Did some googling and wikipedia threw this up:

"... it had both great hamburgers and a spacious patio where attendees could meet in relative privacy. This was known as the "burger munch". (That Kirk's location was demolished around 2005, though a few other locations still exist.)
