Were these the words of the boy he was.. or the man he is today and how is the similar refrain different now than it was back in WWII?

The man he 'is' seems to have much in common with the 'boy' he claimed never existed.

I can accept that this is a big ask of a 14 year old. I can easily understand any one that age failing this test.
But failing that test seems to me to disqualify him from ever being Pope.

When we add to that the outrageous defence of the Catholic Church's absurd and grossly oppressive position on reproductive morality, his apparent defence of child rapists until just a few years ago when the political climate made any further defence impossible, and the Church's ongoing opposition to condom use to prevent the spread of diseases such as HIV, it seems offensive, almost surreal for this person to be making and pronouncing moral judgements vilifying and inciting hate against people whose only crime is to love each other.

'Other youths' here was a reference to the White Rose youths .

There is a honourable tradition of opposition to Hitler and the Nazis within German Christendom.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, executed just a few days before the collapse of the Nazi regime, is one well known example of this noble tradition.

Were they not college students? How many were there? From what I can find, not that many. Would their message have reached all areas? With the rigid control the Nazi's had on any media, its rather unlikely a 14 year old would have even known about them.

There's more than a grain of truth to that, it was a good way for gay men to escape persecution in the Middle Ages, and it's been made pretty clear from his handling of the pedophila scandal that Ratzinger mainly sees threats to his cushy job.

Yes, I do know. I also know Jewish people who do not hold against him what he did as a child. What he does as a man is another story.
