I just heard from Alpha. She needs a triple bypass. She will have lots of time to boss the nurses around. Mod21 Edit to summarize in one place: She had cardiac surgery on Friday, Jan 20, 2012. They planned a triple bypass, but once they got in, found they needed to do a quad bypass. All updates from operating room were positive; I don't have an exact length of time for surgery but it was planned to start at 10 am pacific time, and they did not finish until 3:30 pacific time, I believe. She went into the critical care unit, as is expected after cardiac surgery. Saturday, Jan 21, 2012. Updates from family said she was doing well, and if she continued on that path, they would move her out of critical care and into a room. Saturday, Jan 21, 2012, noon Pacific time. They are gathering up her things to move her to a room. This speaks volumes. Sunday, Jan 22, 2012, 8:30 am Pacific time. Her chest tube is out, most of the other tubes are out, when I called she was sitting up in a chair having her hair combed. She is coughing (and thinking of you, Ron). She has already negotiated to get a nicotine patch. I told her if she needed me to emphasize the VERY GREAT IMPORTANCE of this to the doctors or nurses, she could just put them on the phone. She asked me if people were behaving, and I told her "yes"... okay, "yes, mostly". She said she was trying to get CM unblocked from access in the hospital because "I have work to do"... I told her, very politely of course, "no way in hell, biotch!" Oooohhhhhhhhhh... I'll have to threaten her with moderation next time! Monday, Jan 23, 2012, 7:00 am Pacific time. Her IV is out, she is taking oral pain medications. She had an xray today to see how her lungs are doing, and they wereclear. They're talking about the possibility of an early discharge. I told her to dig in and not let them roust her out (where else can you ring a bell and have someone bring you clean linens, food, and pain pills????). She said that someone will check on a PO box today. I told her about the new "cockmuffin" label that a user unknowingly asked for, and she commenced to coughing and laughing and then I think crying and muttering bad words under her breath at me. Yep, she's coming along JUST FINE. Tuesday, Jan 24, 2012, 6:00 am Pacific time. I was only able to speak to her for a few minutes this morning, but I hear we might get to see a picture of her chest wound. A new doctor came in to see her while we were on the phone, and I tried to tell him to RUN AWAY FAST, but he just laughed. Poor fool. She was a bit stiff and wanted to walk around some more before a decision was made on whether or not she was going home today. Saturday, February 4, 2012. As most of you know by now, Alpha left the hospital four days after surgery. Her incision started looking a big "iffy" so she went to see her surgeon. There is a slight infection of the incision, he says it's nothing major, cleaned it up, and gave her some antibiotics and more pain meds. I spoke to her last night, and she really needs to rest up more and worry about this place less. The "redirect" is back on her profile, asking people to send messages to me if they need something. If anyone would like to mail her something, just drop me a message for her post office box. I think it would really help her... it's really nice when someone takes the time and effort to send postal mail. --Mod21
