Interesting. I posted on another thread about the tapetum lucidum in animal eyes. This is a layer of reflective tissue that coats the inside of the eye- it's different colors in different animals and it's what we see when we shine a light into their eyes at night. Cats are green, dogs orangey, cows blue. The tapetum lucidum amplifies any available light that enters the eye due to its reflective nature, then the animal now has exponentially more light available to navigate its surroundings. Humans do not have this layer, therefore we do not have night vision like animals do.

Why does this boy seem to have a tapetum lucidum? That's the million dollar question I guess. The color of his iris's actually has no relation to anything about his night vision but it's also interesting.
