Yes, I am a label reader, and I am always amazed at the array of things that come from petrochemicals. And we use white vinegar to clean the house, too!

He takes C and zinc also when he starts feeling puny, but has had to take them more often this season than normal.

Do not take too much zinc. At most once a week one tablet with a dosis for one day.

If you do not have a deficiency (ie. a need for) a particular vitamin, excess will just be excreted.

That applies for vitamin C, but not for most or all other vitamins. Vitamins are a necessity, but too much of specific vitamins can do damage. If someone eats fairly ordinary, and has no extraordinary problems, then I would recommend a multi vitamin tablet only incidentally, like once a month.

Indeed, if there is a chronic disease - in my case herpes - a fair number of vitamins can exacerbate the disease. So I try to be a bit on the low side of the optimal vitamin balance rather than on the high side. The only vitamin supplement that I do take in quantity is vitamin C.

In fact, if someone has an excessive shortage of a vitamin, the best strategy is to address the cause rather than to simply increase the vitamin dose as it may fuel a causative disease instead.

Ya, me too. I use rice or organic cider vinegar for cooking and distilled for cleaning.
