Well I'm sure that his response to the question will be a)more on point than yours b) more intelligent than yours c) much deeper than yours.
Other than that I will have to wait to find out [:)]

I don't think any argument in favor of criminalizing marijuana is intelligent or deep.

Damn straight.... Last year at the memorial for Owsley, Jack Herer's nephew sat near us. By way of expressing my condolences over his uncle's passing, and somewhere in that conversation I remember hearing there was now bad blood between the Herers and NORML over things they were doing to grossly bump up the stats and  I believe on thing he said was they were now counting ANY form of detention, however brief as arrests.
Before they went by the number of those charged with a felony. I think they told him they needed ,ore relevance than ever these days or something like that. I suspect your chart is based on that philosophy.
I know there's A LOT LESS concern about marijuana here in massachusetts. You really have to piss them off to even get the ticket most of the time. And my friends, some of whom are still major stoners, say more often than not, they're just told to get it out of their site. Course driving a car high gets more attention than it may have in the past cause they can prove it in some cases.

Interesting. I don't doubt that for a second.

Yeah, MA is pretty cool about everything. You almost need to do something to deserve it to get in trouble here. My one gripe about MA: no medical marijuana. What gives?

WASHINGTON, DC -- A question advocating marijuana legalization from a retired LAPD deputy chief of police won twice as many votes as any other video question in the White House's "Your Interview with the President" competition on YouTube this weekend. President Obama is slated to answer some of the top-voted questions on Monday.

The marijuana question, submitted by Stephen Downing, a board member for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), is as follows: "Mr. President, my name is Stephen Downing, and I'm a retired deputy chief of police from the Los Angeles Police Department. From my 20 years of experience I have come to see our country’s drug policies as a failure and a complete waste of criminal justice resources. According to the Gallup Poll, the number of Americans who support legalizing and regulating marijuana now outnumbers those who support continuing prohibition. What do you say to this growing voter constituency that wants more changes to drug policy than you have delivered in your first term?"

I wonder how that hypocritical former pot-smoking weasel in the White House will react to this...

It would be awesome if we could hear from President Obama's former street pharmacist.

The cops I have spoken with since decrim are young enough that for their entire career they've had civilian and uniformed contemporaries who smoke. For them it's always JUST MEANT more paperwork.

Having been at the very first MassCann meetings back in the 80s ... it's a gripe I have ALWAYS had with them... they could have probably passed something more than a decade ago, had they gone with Med. But Steve Epstein ALWAYS crafted all of their arguments around the criminality of the drug and refused to entertain the Med argument.

Had he been going for top-to-bottom legalization, I would have stayed in the organization. It was a lot more fun when Andy Hoffman was around and Shakra, Max Creek, and Phish were easily acquired for fundraisers.
Life was easy back in those days although affiliation with the movement cost me my cushy job at NERPRC.

Like so many New Englanders. I would have loved to have heard from the cops up in Maine who disappeared the police report describing the flipped over beamer which had an interior coated in a white powder. But I am sure they were so well compensated for their troubles we'll MAYBE hear about that when one of em is on their death bed, for what little good it will do then.

But even without the specter of his cocaine use, Dubyah was still a mess most of us are enjoying the process of forgetting.

locking up more marijuana smokers in three years in office than bush&co did in 8 years.

Really? I didn't know this. Wow.

Change you can believe in...

Do you ever check facts?

Arrests are actually flat/slightly down.

Note the increase during the Bush II years.

Don't let him fool ya he's trying to get you to reveal where the lab is in which you make your marijuana. I've seen several seasons of "Breaking Bad" just play it cool and he'll never know you're on to him.

Just remember that this year, for the first time in forever, there is a viable presidential candidate who favors ending our insane "war on drugs" and saving billions in our hard-earned cash and hundreds of thousands of destroyed lives.
His name is Ron Paul.

The same thing happened here in Canada about a year ago, with Stephen Harper. His response was "hahaha, what a silly question. They must be smoking something! Let's answer the second most popular question instead." I kid you not.
Online polls recently on CNBC and other sites show 8% of Canadians favour continuing prohibition. Offline National polls recently showed a 25% figure. Canadians don't want prohibition. Only the government does, and well, they appear to be the ones who matter. Or something.

Connection? Is that the term for the person that you buy drugs from? Then yes. I really know very few of the different expressions.

Are you referring to the businesses/owners or to the actual patients?

Is this some weird attempt to change the subject? Because you are making no sense.

The President is clear and concise in his public remarks on this, both in his book, and as a candidate. He smoked (and inhaled) marijuana frequently, and he liked cocaine, when he could afford it.
