Is it fear of commitment or prevention of disappointment ?

I went on a business trip to Indio CA recently (a visiting instructor for a hospital) and ventured out midweek to check out the "Nightlife". Wound up in a Karaoke bar, ate well, sang twice when my turn came around, and got hit on after rendition of "Me & Mrs. Jones"

Her first question was "Are you here on business?" A MWF sneaking out for a treat... After a slow dance, she insisted on seeing my hotel cardkey, and invited herself to my room, whispering "I have a silk scarf I want you to blindfold me with."

I did have my travel kit with me and was able to offer her much more than just her scarf. With the multi-ringed bondage vest secured to the seat of the chair and leather ankles cuffs in place, she decided to forego the blindfold, opting instead for my pink steel handcuffs and being positioned in front of the dresser mirror - where she could see herself, me, and these mystical things which heretofore existed only in the one porno she owned...

Later, I asked her why she sought out transients, and her immediate response was "Oh my God, what if I saw someone at the supermarket when I was shopping with my husband?" When I inquired if there might be someone she knew with whom she could develop a trusting discreet relationship, she laughed and said "I trust my husband, but I wouldn't let HIM blindfold me !"

And so the opening question above - Is it fear of commitment or prevention of disappointment? I suppose that hotel bars near airports might abound with such people, but wouldn't it be better to use a site such as this to find and experience the joys of your preference? Or is there more to the "Traveling salesman" mystique.... Your thoughts invited...

Pretty insightful, dude. Don't know what it is about playing with strangers, but i like to do it too. No history, no need to fit it into the vanilla life I guess.

Lance likes the traveling businessmen that use CollarMe to make a date when they're in town.  Just one example is here www.collarchat.com/m_3814864/mpage_1/tm.htm (in the Positive Experiences forum.)

The "good old days" had LOTS of one-night stands (pre-AIDS; pre-internet.)  You went to the leather bar 'cause.... guess what?.... that's where other guys went.

I've always said, "Gays try for sexual compatibility FIRST, then commitment.  Straights have it backwards."  LOL!

<I point out that's the MALE point of view, talking about other pigs, er..... other men>
