As someone who's living in rural NH I get that it's harder for you to meet kinksters than when you were living in NYC. I think that a lot of the flack you're getting is from people who are used to the dating challenges that rural living creates and they may even be a bit envious that you're only an hour and a half from the kinky mecca that is NYC. Plus some people are just dicks.

That said I'd also recommend fetlife, it's just organised in a way that makes it so much easier to keep up on events and groups in your area.

Yea I hear ya. Personally I think she nuttin but a whiny lil bitch. "oh oh it's to hard for me to drive to NYC" then dont go but I damn sure dont wanna listen to a whiner. jeez she is givin me a freaking earache all the from the D

OP, I'd say you are either exceptionally defensive for some reason or you a not a very good judge of responses or character.  To start, Roch is absolutely not a bully and is probably one of the more helpful people on the boards when it comes to answering questions.  You may not think so, but in My opinion, you owe him and some others who tried to help you an apology.

By your own statement, you didn't expect a lot of people in your area to be what you're into.  Logically, that means you weren't going to get a lot of responses of direct information.  You probably lucked out that Des gave you some leads because she happens to be in the same area.  Have a look at how many posters are on the site, then take into consideration that they are all over the world.  Are the odds becoming a little clearer?

What people tried to tell you is that Fetlife has a different type of set up than CM does.  CM has an upcoming events section, but Fet was designed specifically with finding groups and events in mind.  Also, it's great for specific fetishes, whereas CM allows you to search for specific people.  Fet allows you to search by location and that can be a benefit in cases like yours.  The people who suggested that to you were trying to help you.

Comments like Mine?  I'm not going to lie to you.  I would LOVE to be in your position.  I miss being in similar circumstances.  You may be "so over" going downtown, but there are a lot of people who don't have that as an option or never had that kind of access.  You'll just have to forgive those of us who were joining the conversation to talk about varying situations.

I am over being down town! I just don't feel like it's "my scene" any more. I grew up there, I did it all and I am done! It's an hour and a half drive and going there, drinking, driving home tired on top of working five days a week is not my idea of a pleasant time.

Are we talking about the same city? Are you going to some shadow New York that consists of nothing but bars and Times Square? I only know a few people in the NYC scenes (plural), but there's a lot of diversity there.

If "your scene" consists of slinky fetish femdom clubs a ten minute walk from your house then yes, you might be shit out of luck. If you'd like to meet some fellow humans, though? They're all over the place, in Orange County NY and NYC alike.

The original post was an exercise in bad ideas.

Your post was not an exercise of bad ideas. I understand not wanting to be part of a scene. Not every style or every person may fit for everyone else.

Now this isn't super helpful but I do know there are groups in albany, bimington and syracuse. I'm not sure about utica(though I heard there was one there) Ithica had one years ago but I'm not sure it's current status and I know nothing about anything in any states you might be near.

I know none of them are super close to you, and may require a little drive on your part, but it may be better than nothing if you desire a scene to belong to.

You are free to do and think as you desire. If you don't like NYC's Meat Market(which I'd imagine is what it might be in some circumstances) you shouldn't be forced to like it. Be yourself and not that which others desire you to be. :)

You can always do as MrBukani suggests and start your own. The possibilities are endless really.

However whatever the case I don't see that which you do or don't as a sign of laziness.

But that is me in any case.
