How much does Depo-Provera cost?

There are two fees associated with the use of the birth control injections: 1) the doctor's visit and 2) the quarterly injections. Office visits to obtain your prescription and the birth control injections range from $50 to $200; follow up visits for additional injections are usually between $20 to $40. The cost for your quarterly injection ranges between $30 and $75.

Depo Provera added 20 lbs to my ex-wife when she tried it. I've heard that's not uncommon.

Which would then make anyone who runs down to Wal-mart and gets the BOGO for $9 a cheap whore, or what exactly is the point?

How much do you pay, by the way?

So true..I was on the patch for about 10 years till last year and it was about $65 a month and I have PPO insurance and went to a small non-chain pharmacy to buy it.

I am not a Rush Limbaugh fan at all though...He is pretty much king of the hypocrites.

When I drive I listen to conservative radio. The primary reason is that like I to hear what everyone says. I don't hold to those ideas mind you but I do want to hear what's being said. This morning I heard Rush do his intro. It started with him saying how he's not hurting for sponsors and the the "liberal media" is telling lies about advertisers leaving. He then went into his proof where he talked about Ashley Madison. He went on and on about Ashley Madison and how they help people cheat but that he didn't want them as a sponsor. He must have mentioned them and their ability to help you cheat 2 dozen times. It struck me at the time that it was a paid endorsement much like product placement in a movie. Now of course that's just my opinion (before anyone asks for proof). It just seemed that if he was really just telling a story about someone he didn't want as an advertiser then he would have called them "an internet based company that specializes in the kind of dating activity that he doesn't support" or something similar.

He charges more for those kind of ads (really! I think it's the highest rate, as told by himself.) It's seen as more effective than the old school ads.

BTW, Liz -- you take birth control pills every day, even if you've not fornicated. They have nothing to do with frequency of sex. (If you're a woman, how could you not know this?)

He was probably trying to drive home that message in his usual ham-fisted style, trying to demonize them like 'Tiller The Baby Killer'.

Not only that but, if Rush turns it down, he's laughable. If he accepted them, the mamby-pambies on the left start talking about how he caved, etc. It was a lose/lose proposition for Rush.

+1. We'd see the same thread with the same folks all berating him because he took AM on as a sponsor. Dig around far enough and don't be surprised if the same people who put Sandra fluke up to her shenanigans are behind this.

It's not 3K/year. It's 3 K for her college career. Some folks need to go back and read.

Christ... lets try this again... with facts.

Fluke's exact words.... Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school.

http://abcnews.go.com/images/Politics/statement-Congress-letterhead-2nd%20hearing.pdf

Law school is typically 3 years, if full time.

Thats 1000 a year.

250 a visit to see the Dr. Mine only wrote the script for 6 months. So that makes it 500 a year just to get the prescription.

500 left for the contraceptive itself.

DaddySatyr -> RE: RUSH is too good for Ashley MAdison... (3/8/2012 6:58:14 PM)

As much as some people like a red herring. Georgetown's coverage already pays for the doctor visit; especially when you consider that the insurance company has no right to know why the young lady is visiting the doctor. The only way they'd know is if the patient tried to submit a claim for services that sprang from that visit (a prescription for Ortho, etc.). So, adding in doctor's costs is bullshit.

Ms. Fluke meant for us to believe that the pills were what costs $3000 over the span of Law School.

I really don't understand the bru-ha-ha, anyway. There was a thread a few weeks back where most of the ladies here were insistantthat birth control is the responsibility of the men. Y'all don't need the pills. We'll bring the rubbers.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

DaddySatyr -> RE: RUSH is too good for Ashley MAdison... (3/8/2012 7:19:31 PM)

After reading the Georgetown insurance coverage, it's $15.00 per gyn visit. 2 per year, 3 years = a whopping $90.00

The policy also covers birth control pills which are prescribed for reasons other than birth control. So, that's not an argument.

The argument here, once again is: "I want to have sex. I want to protect myself (which is commendable) and I want someone else to pay for it (tough shit)" or, translated: "My body. My choice. Someone else's responsibility"

quote:

ORIGINAL: Ms. Fluke's testimony

A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome and has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries. Her prescription is technically covered by Georgetown insurance because it’s not intended to prevent pregnancy. Under many religious institutions’ insurance plans, it wouldn’t be, and under Senator Blunt’s amendment, Senator Rubio’s bill, or Representative Fortenberry’s bill, there’s no requirement that an exception be made for such medical needs.

Georgetown Insurance handbook (Sorry. .pdf)

Peace and comfort.

tazzygirl -> RE: RUSH is too good for Ashley MAdison... (3/8/2012 7:28:09 PM)

Dude, read what she said again. A woman without ANY insurance going to Georgetown would expect to pay that much. Just because Insurance there does cover it doesnt mean all women are covered.

Most students who are charged Georgetown University tuition and registered in resident thesis research or registered for nine or more credit hours in a GU degree program (eight or more credit hours if a law or graduate student) are eligible and required to enroll in the most comprehensive student injury and sickness plan offered through the University, unless their other insurance coverage meets specific University requirements.

http://studentaffairs.georgetown.edu/insurance/index.html (not pdf)

And if they are dropped from their own plan for whatever reason?

Again, you are not reading what the woman said... instead taking your own spin on things.

Now, I know why you wish to be difficult. Its what you edited out of the other post. Quite amusing actually. You are no better than Rush.

ShaharThorne -> RE: RUSH is too good for Ashley MAdison... (3/8/2012 7:58:55 PM)

I pay $60+ dollars per visit for Lizard's shot.  She is not sexually active but has heavy bleeding and bad PMS which is why she takes the shot.  Rush is nothing more that a wet noodle (I mean limp noodle) who wants to get his rocks off in any way he can.

"Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy [of not providing contraception coverage]."

That was from Ms. Fluke.

Going to Georgetown but having problems because of contraception costs? Ummm. . . I know a couple of ways that they can alleviate that problem.

$3000 over the course of earning a law degree. How long does it take to get a law degree?
Also, since she was talking about birth control pills, do you think that birth control pill costs correlate to the amount of sex you have, or that you take one pill a day every day? If the former I have to tell you that you are mistaken, which I find surprising as your name and pic suggest that you are female. I'm male and I know that much.
Also, since she was not talking about herself, but about a friend, you are accusing the wrong person of being a slut. Also, since said friend is a lesbian, odds are the pills were not for birth control. In fact, they were for PCOS, which can cause serious health problems. I believe her friend had to have an Ovary removed due to a cyst. Other effects of PCOS include death by heart attack.

You're doing it again. Where in the fuck did I claim that you needed a pill for each encounter?

Okay. That's enough. I didn't call the girl a slut. You didn't read what I posted that said that her friend needed it for something other than birth control. You want to know whats hilarious? Employers already pay for the costs of people having sex.... maternity, days off for Dr appointments and such, then maternity leave not only for the woman but for the father of the baby as well.

And they want to bitch about the co-pay on birth control?

Give me a flipping break.

All eligible students are charged $1,895 for insurance in the fall semester

Students who become eligible for the Plan for the first time in the spring semester are charged $1,209 for spring coverage.

lol.. and here is the kicker...

EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

19. Prescription Drugs, services or supplies as follows, except as specifically provided in the policy:

b) Birth control and/or contraceptives, oral or other, whether medication or device; except as specifically provided in the policy;

21. Reproductive/Infertility services including but not limited to: birth control;

http://studentaffairs.georgetown.edu/insurance/premierplanbooklet.pdf

So, let me get this straight. They should have to pay 1800 in the fall, or 1200 in the spring, to get a birth control subscription that wont cover any form of birth control... when the out of pocket expense is only 1000 a year.

Yeah, I can see lots of women not paying that.

Yet another great argument for universal coverage/single payer/National Health care.

NOT YOU
YOu really werent being repsonded to dood
Would some male please repost this ..because I know he doesnt read my posts..and I would like him to see he wasnt the one being responded to.
His post just happened to be referenced

Funny ... that some feel that students arent entitled to BC but at the same time feel entitled to tell them how they SHOULD behave and spend their dollars.
I wish more people would ACTUALLY inwardly digest what was actually SAID by Fluke.and not by what people think she said.
