Why is it so hard to find a Master or a Mistress into heavy edge play, especially "flying" or "body hooks", needles, knives, whips.

I certainly haven't had any difficulty, at least when it comes to cutting, needles, whipping and bloodletting. I'm not into suspensions personally, so I don't seek that out. But I know a fair number in the body modification "community"t hat do it in conjuction with spirital or sexual practices.

Have you considered that the caveats in your profile may have a detrimental effect on any that might consider you for ownership?
Unless a slave is independently wealthy or has a thriving career, I don't see them staying at home and being centerpieces to fulfill their opinion of their supposed worth.
I haven't practiced My Craft in the Dallas area for decades, but, I am aware of a Master that's very adept with bullwhips that lives there. I can't say that he's as extreme as I am, that would have to be determined by him.
I took a quick glance at your profile, looked over your interests and had to wonder if you have any idea of the preperation necessary for successful flesh 'n' hook play? Unless the owner is well off and has time to kill, I'm thinking that your fantasy will not be realized for a bit longer.

The more advanced and skilled and interested you get into something, the smaller the available pool is.

I know that Edge always complains about his reputation preventing him from finding new partners...and if he weren't so darn stuck on being a gay male who almost never plays with females, we'd be a kick ass match.

You just have to accept it. The path I took was to find partners who were somewhat novice and am training and giving them time to come up to my level. This requires a lot of foresight, good timing, and right personalities, but I find it's better than seeking what's already out there and mostly taken.

Mostly ? Experience , Those new to the lifestyle like to talk a good game, but dealing with the possibility of a flock up scares the beggesus out of a Novice top. Look for those who actually have the time into SM and dont just Boast about "20+ years" as a top . Ask around , seek references about the tops you seek to play with. Add to that the prevelence of " BDSM lite" and those who identify principally as "D/s" and you end up having a hard time finding those who want to " go there" .

Suggestions :

First Find someone with a " rep" as an edge player , Not easy I know but you could do well finding established groups or Munches in your area . Attend Demo's and seminars , Long time players like to pass knowlage and gain new perspectives.

Dont rush it , get to know the Top, No One < unless they are a fool" is going to do edge play with someone they do not know , Keep in mind that A top takes great chances beating you , In most states if you dislike what they do and go running out the door , they will be arrested for assult and even if you dont wish to press charges the state will.

Be sure of what you ask for and use safe words when sceneing , there is nothing worse than a person who " suffers" through a scene and then complains afterwards.

personally I think edge play should be left for established relationships , If you cant find it right away find someone who's interests mirror yours and then allow the play to evolve naturally. Trust me My pets do not want to do a full Blown singletail scene when they meet me, Its a build up ::smile:::

I just recently moved to Dallas Texas and that is exactly what I am trying to do, find local groups, Dungeons and Established Edge BDSM Masters or Mistresses with a good rep. I am NOT going to play with anyone until I get to know them very well, I am just trying to find someone who at least has the experience and the nerve to hang me on a hook and send me flying.

Asking where all the edge players have gone, is a lot like asking where all the "good subs" have gone. It's the way of the world that if you just showed up, the good ones of anything are already taken, and any of the good ones that might come onto the market in the future, are taken before the market ever sees them.
The reason being, it takes time, experience, and involvement to become good. In the case of "good subs" there is more often than not a "good dom" in proximity when they are "dropped" and most never even hit the ground before they are once more off the market.
By looking for the best of the best, in a niche, there are very few as you describe as a total percentage of the population.

Let's say I seek the maker of the finest cellos in the world. I arrive wishing to apprentice. There is one of him, and lots of me. I would be naive in the worst way to hand him my laundry list, then expect consideration.

When you are the best and are known as such, you make demands.
When you are talented, and have proven track record, you negotiate.
When you are unproven or untalented, you beg.

I don't make the rules, I just exploit them.

I think you answered your own question here. If most people were into edge play, it wouldnt be called edge play. The more extreme it is, by definition the less people will be into it. Add into that the fact that the things you want take time, expertise, money and special equipment and it's obvious the field will bbe narrower. You've been given some excellent resources here, just don't expect to find it instantly. The more unusual the desire the harder you will have to work to get it fullfilled. good luck in your search

Dear CollaredProperty, Ladies and Gentlemen;

In addition to those who have posted wonderful information on the matter, I also wanted to add to what has already been said.

In the area of "flying, body hooks" scenes, you have to be patient and build up to such. It isn't a snap choice but, a long series of building up and calculations that are spot on. Anatomy knowledge and working with equipment that has been tried and tested, putting in back ups as to put safety first. Attention to detail is required, as to be sterile as the needles are required. Not all places are sanitary, so that is a concern. You also need the equipment, which is bulky and takes up space, if doing such in public. We have been lucky to have those who have done this for a long while and do public demo's on it, come to The Crucible due to the space, the high ceilings and the ability to make the area safe. Many of the dungeon monitors are medical so, they are there and extra are on hand on any such scenes. So, there is also a need for not only the dominant, the submissive but also a lot of support and safety is always in mind in everything they do.

Needles, knife play also have their sanitary needs. Same with marking to blood with whips. These whips are dedicated as soon as they cause blood. Due to dedicating whips once they have had body fluids and or blood, it becomes expensive.

What is needed to make clear, what long and hard work that individuals do, as to make it look so easy, requires patience and hard work, especially with fish hook suspension, flying in the air on hooks and such.
