My Master and I are new to this lifestyle. I was wondering if there are any informational sites, books, or other advice ya'll could give on being a heavy set woman and being suspended or using straps and ropes during bondage play?

I have always loved amusement park rides where I go upside down and the like so I think I would enjoy being suspended in various ways. What would make this safe for me besides loosing weight because my Master likes my body the way it is?

Any tips, advice, etc. would be helpful.

Two Knotty Boys has a lot of information on ropework, but I don't think they've got a lot about suspension.

Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns also has some information on bondage, and is a pretty educational read.

start with the basics and both of you look for any educational events about beginnner bondage and safety aspects first, once you both have a good understanding of that, move on to a suspension training course/s. There are some different harnesses and supports that can go underneath you rather than it mainly being the rope supporting your weight but there are a lot of things that can go wrong so my suggestion is to find some very experienced people who mentor and/or teach and learn from them

All the best :)

Seems like there's two questions here:

1. BBW and bondage

My weight goes up and down and this hasn't been an issue during bondage. General Bondage Safety

2. BBW and suspension

For suspension, I second the recommendation for attending in-person educational events.

Look up Boss Bondage - he does bbw specific suspension guides

Thank you all for your help and thank you kalikshama for pointing out there were two questions. I didn't realize when I was typing it that it should be two questions. Thank you for pointing that out. My mind was not functioning too well at that time. Ha!

I agree with what others have said about getting yourselves to some rope work shops. Intricate rope and suspension should definitely be left to the experts but that's not to say that one day your partner won't be an expert!
When I have suspended fairly heavy men I only use natural rope because synthetic rope has a tendency to stretch and I use 8mm instead of my normal 6mm. Weight always has to be taken into consideration when suspending because spreading the load is very important. A good regular workshop will teach you all about this.

Thank you all for your advice. I am going to ask the question now, how do you go about finding the workshops? We would be attending these in Portland, OR by the way.
Thank you all so much again for the advice.

I would recommend joining the local community. That may take place online through other websites for the introductions. You'd then be able to find classes in your area for your interests.

Then I'd recommend taking a rope tying class together. You should learn how to be safely tied as much as he's going to learn to tie you safely.

While I don't currently have a Dom, I have friends locally that will "tie me up" whenever I request it. I'm in a Rope class monthly. Yes, I make sure they're tying safely as I'm learning about rope too. We all have to be responsible for our own safety first, before trusting anyone else.

I'm also BBW and have been suspended UPSIDE DOWN. I didn't expect to like it as I have a "thing" about heights. I LOVE IT.

Do the research and get to know some local groups. It's the easiest way to learn to be tied safely.

Just an opinion mind you.........I could be wrong..........I often am.

Endivius -> RE: BBWs, Suspension, and Bondage (3/19/2012 4:18:14 PM)

You need to attend some classes on bondage suspension. The body has tons of nerves and arteries that run along the body that can become constricted causing long term to permanent damage. It is very important that you learn to recognize where they are, how to tell if a tie will apply pressure, where the pressure will be applied, how much tension a line can support. There are so many things that need to be known that you cannot just read in a book. It takes real in person hands on experience, I am not saying this to mortify you, rather to caution you from rushing into anything you might see online that "looks neat to try". Be smart, be safe.

Thank you all for your helpful replies to my pet. She is a treasure and I love how friendly and helpful this community has thus far been to her and, by extension, to the both of us. I look forward to learning how to safely suspend my beloved pet based on the advice here, and welcome more if there is more to be had.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: BBWs, Suspension, and Bondage (3/19/2012 4:47:25 PM)

Yes, absolutely learn from some experts! There is often a separation between riggers and BDSM folk, so if you google riggers and rope groups, you might find a whole other set of contacts. It's not rocket science, but getting it wrong is a Bad Thing.

I adore being tied, and it's certainly possible to do solid safe ties on heavier people. Just keep in mind that it HURTS to a degree to have all that weight held up, Josh'sPet! It's great fun, and a physical challenge, too!

lisub4one -> RE: BBWs, Suspension, and Bondage (3/20/2012 6:05:10 AM)

Capt,

an important element of suspending anyone is insuring all of the hardware you are using is rated for 6 - 10 times the weight of the subject. A suspended person is a dynamic load, not a static one, and will exert forces many times their own body weight while moving against the rigging. Also, if you are looking to set up suspension in your home make sure the hard points you are installing distribute the load across as many joists as possible to avoid structural damage or failure of your rigging.

Thank you all for giving my Master advice and resources to find out how to learn to do it safely. I know that my safety is the number one priority for him.

That was a pretty interesting web site.

CaptJosh -> RE: BBWs, Suspension, and Bondage (3/28/2012 5:46:57 PM)

I really do appreciate all the great advice here. I think the most important thing I've taken away from this thread so far is to do my research and to take things slowly and carefully.

Thank you all so much.

Enforcersslave -> RE: BBWs, Suspension, and Bondage (4/18/2012 8:50:32 AM)

Always make sure you have plenty of support....doesn't matter big or small if you don't have proper support you can injure yourself. My ankle and knee where injured when an ex tried to hang me upside down of course he didn't care about doing it correctly and just yanked me up and didn't have anything else supporting my weight except for two suspension ankle cuffs. So start slowly and carefully and test your limits
