Indeed.

I particularly like when someone gets all indignant about a piece of information I mention after sharing emails over a few days......when that information is in my profile.

OP, if a potential slave is too lazy to bother reading what I've written, I am quite confident they will never EVER be MY slave.

There are many people that fancy being a writer. (Including me.) Before the journals had a link and every journal you posted was there, I had some short stories on my profile. They gained me a lot of attention and a following. So much so, that I had to get rid of them!

A lot of people use this format to get some feedback on what they are writing, some use it to gain attention for their pay sites or services and some think that they will find a soul mate if they share their soul or creativity and may find someone that enjoys that aspect of them.

What does it matter when you can ignore, hide, run or just say no?

My profile is long and I try to shorten it as best I can. I try to make it better also. But I agree, it says what needs to be said; and I feel that it's important when getting to know if that's who you want to start a conversation with.

(Oh and I no attention spam whatsoever, so earlier I though he was talking about long stories in journals)

I've done both the short story, and War and Peace......guys didn't read either one.....go figure. Even now, they don't read it.

If someone can't take the time to see what I'm about thru my profile, then I'm not wasting any of MY time on them!

For me personally, I felt the need to weed out the one's I don't want to talk to. Some still find their way to my inbox, but the quantity of undesirables has dropped significantly. As a bonus, my tactic worked; the quantity of desirable women went up. Funny, I guess it worked out just like I had hoped.

Bottom line, I don't want a bunch of men messaging me nor do I want any women that act like average men messaging me. If they can't take the time to read what is posted in my profile; I don't need to take the time to answer their dumb questions.

...because some of us are not just about the kink.

We want someone who matches us on many levels, and that takes words.

Also, having a longer profile weeds out those who don't have the attention span or ability to read lots of words. Think of it like throwing chlorine into the shallow end of our personal gene pool.

I highly disagree. People who actually read a whole book on someone's profile is clearly a desperate person.

OK but they should not bitch when they get emails from someone with the complete opposite interests as them. They should keep it short and to the point , so people would know what you are looking for.

I have a very long profile and now a very long journal entry, as well. If a man believes it's too long, then we are not compatible because guess what? I like to write, I am wordy when I write, and the more I get to know someone, the more I am likely to write. If someone feels my profile would be better off short and sweet, then that man is not the man for me.

So...it works. :)

Sometimes, just sometimes, they have an inflated opinion of themselves and just how much others care about their every little thought and desire. But, that's just sometimes.........luci

I copy and paste this for you all

2.) Do not start your profile with warnings and rules.

“read my whole profile or do not contact me” thing and it is 5 pages long with links for mandatory writings to be read in the middle and youtube songs to listen to for breaks and portions are repetitive or stop and then restart again later……………might be good to rethink that.

You have to grab their attention and hold it. Making a person work their ass off just to figure if you are someone they are interested in, is uninteresting for most people.

A nice hello or something of a greeting with an explanation of who you are works the best. Then put rules in after.

3.) Short profiles carefully worded and organized work the best.

a.) Encompassing some description of yourself
b.) provoking intrigue and further curiosity
c.) being nice/humorous without defensiveness helps a lot.
d.) devoid of misspellings and grammatical errors a must
e.) easy flowing read broken into paragraphs or with a list, and without all capitals or military-like dictation or choppiness.
f.) keep it simple, but informative
g.) Concisely state what you want and are looking for and why
h.) maintaining focus – start a part concerning something about yourself; finish it there, then move on to another, without these different aspects all jumbled up. If you are unfocused describing yourself, you will not maintain the interested focus of someone else.

That's....an interesting bit of "logic."

Probably a lot of people, more practiced than you, read a lot faster.

Obviously the op can't read or pay attention. Kaliko's profile clearly states she's not searching now, she's focused on herself and not meeting any else yet. How the op interpreted that to mean that she's desperate to find a guy, we will never know.

Swaggerseven: Your premise is flawed in a few places. Firstly, the vast majority of people who actually visit the discussion side of CM seem to prefer longer profiles. An overwhelming majority of folks who have replied to this thread of yours have stated such a preference. Which works for them. This does not make them in any way wrong, as you seem to be trying to imply.

Secondly, you've stated several times that 'most people' this and 'most people' that when what you're really saying is YOUR OWN personal preference. Stating your own preference is fine, but trying to give the impression that you're in the right and everyone who disagrees with you is wrong is not going to go over well with the eclectic collection of ruggedly individual personalities here.

Third, longer profiles WORK for those of us that do prefer them. In my own personal experience, a long profile gives you more of an insight into the person who wrote it. It also gives the reader more potential conversation lead ins. To label people who take the time to write a thoughtful and insightful profile entry as 'desperate' is very small-minded of you. For me, a longer profile is a sign of intelligence, and intelligence is FAR sexier than any slutty pic could ever be.

Short version- Cope with the fact that not everyone thinks the same way you do.

I highly disagree with your high disagreement.

I don't want someone with the attention span and IQ of a gnat who finds reading several paragraphs too much like hard work. I prefer someone who is able to read and comprehend more than half a dozen words.

But then again, I was looking for a kinky guy who had patience, intelligence and a life outside of the bedroom. YMMV.

Being serious for just this post.

My rule of thumb, is that more someone writes in their profile, the more sexually frustrated they are. The fucked stupid tend towards short profiles.

When you're being chatted up, a bit of frustration is a good sign, it shows she really is single and has standards.

That does sound somewhat excessive, but perhaps the party finds it a useful screening device, certainly less gauche than a demand for a tribute.

If you'd be so kind, I'd like you to quantify "long" with a word count of the profile in question, which you can obtain by copying and pasting into here: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/countwords.shtml
