CrescentLuna -> Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/3/2006 6:49:27 PM)

Hiya all, I was referred here by an unrelated LiveJournal post. Looks like a nice place, so I'm glad I joined. One thing I was wondering - I haven't put a pic in my profile because all my pics are old or boring - but am slightly concerned about it, too. Hmm. Anyone have opinions on whether or not profiles should contain pics?

SweetSarijane -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/3/2006 6:52:18 PM)

Welcome to Collarme and the boards!

It really is personal preference as to whether or not you put a pic in your profile or not. Some do, some don't.

slaverosebeauty -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/3/2006 6:55:50 PM)

{raises hand}

When I first got on CM [and a few other sites] I didn't have a pic up and I still got a few emails from people; once I got into a relationship my Master posted some [on every site I was on], after that, I just keep doing it. Personaly, I would put a picture [or 2] up looking back, it gives a place to start and despite the shallowness of some people and 'remarks' for the most part, people are kind; also some people have their search options set so that ONLY people with pics on their profiles show up, something to think about.

Have a friend take a few pics, nilla is best around here, and post them up. Good luck and welcome to the site. :o)

Welcome to CM. You will probably get about 50 e-mails a day and many of them too stupid for words. If you put up a pic, you will get 100+ and most of them too stupid for words. If you are seeking a Dom/me, search the profiles for what you are looking for and initiate conversation if you think you have a match. If you think you found someone you like, send them a pic with an intro letter.

My other concern is work-related, has anyone had trouble at work for having pics on the net or something like that? One of my friends in real life got refused a job because of them searching the net and finding pics. :(

slaverosebeauty -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/3/2006 7:11:42 PM)

I'm gonna be honest about the pics thing coz of work; it's a cop out. If someone sees your pic on CM or any other 'adult' site their is a reason they found the pic, they were on that site. By 'outting' you they have also outed theirself as well. I was blacklisted when some of my pics were taken from my car while I was working and shown to my on-site supervisor; nuff said. Other than that, I have not had any problems, if anything, I have met a few people from this and other sites while at work. One guy I worked with heard me on my cell talking to a man I was getting to know and after I got off the phone he asked me a few questions and it turned out, we had emailed in the past. We both kept our lips zipped.  That has happend a few times, one guy said, 'wow, you look different in heels and a business-suite than in a corset and heels.' Not a problem.

I agree with you. It's only fair that you know what the person looks like that you're writing.

sweetbbwsub31 -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/4/2006 5:47:51 AM)

When I look at a profile. I prefer those with pictures. Therefore, I put mine up as well. When you are dealing with lots of e mails the photo also helps you remember the person. I am who I am and if anyone sees my picture here they were here too. I work both as a teacher and a Massage Therapist so I am not "out". I remain very professional and private. However, with a bit of effort it would be fairly easy for anyone to find out what a naughty girl I am. To that I say be careful what you ask... you just might find out.

Welcome to CM and good luck to you,

Hi Crescent Luna.
I have not put a picture on my profile, but I am thinking of doing so. I dont think that the old pictures you have will be that bad. I wish I was nearer to you I would come and take some pictures (nude) with the greatest of pleasure ?
Bye for now

I have my photo on my profile as it hopefully then acts as a filter for people who contact me ie. they wont contact me if they are not interested in a dark skinned woman. I find that some people still assume that an Australian is someone with an Anglo-Saxon background so a picture saves me having to explain it all.

I haven't had any problems re someone I work with finding me here but admit to sometimes thinking that maybe I am taking a risk (I really do need to read the terms of my contract again as they actually do include something about being a representative of the company) but at the end of the day I like having a photo on my profile and people sometimes email me to give me compliments about it (laughs... I will do anything to get a compliment!)

Its all about doing whatever you feel comfortable doing.

spankmeplez -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/4/2006 9:07:21 AM)

Just want to Intoduce myself, my name is spankmeplez, looking for someone who likes to give spankings that last up to one hour and a half. (Or 45 minutes will do) after warming up my bare bottom.  I have a quid (small whip) crop that has a strap feels llike [:)]your being spanked with a whip twice at one shot.  A metal paddle covered in leather, and a strap which is very painful unless I'm properly warmed up.  I could be someone's submissive a female's sub as I am f also.  Must meet for in depth conversation before any play.  Live in Vestal do you live near me? Would you like to spank my bare bottom?

Kyttin -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/4/2006 2:10:56 PM)

Hi and welcome

I have a picture in mine, but I think its ok so long as you arent overly specific about where you live. If you live in a large City, I think it fine to put the City name, if you live in a smaller area you may just want to list your state. After all I am sure not many outside of the community even know about this site. (heck I had to have it pointed out to me) So really its fine so long as you are smart about what you post.

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/4/2006 2:16:51 PM)

CrescentLuna -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/4/2006 10:40:58 PM)

Got the bf to take a pic. Hope it is okay, not sure if it qualifies under the no bondage or hardcore type of pictures. If it does, someone let me know, 'kay?

GrayGhost -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/6/2006 9:27:54 AM)

I think pics are nice, even if vanilla. Of course men are visual, so I may be slanted. What really gripes me is those that don't, and when you ask them for a pic to get started, they seem offended. I post my pics, I think it's only fair I see who I am talking with.

CelticPrince -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/6/2006 5:10:39 PM)

luna,

you solved your problem, now the next problem is to dig out from all the responses brought on by your pic.

Welcome to CM and good fortune

GddssBella -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/7/2006 6:30:25 AM)

G'morning all:

CL, as for outing at work, srb made two excellent points. There's also the general search engines that can turn up your handle. I'd keep too much personal information out of the profile, ie: real name, to reduce the possibilities. The criteria you select for availability will also affect how you're found. My own personal settings are for pictures only. It reduces the sheer volume of what is displayed.

My advice, already echoed, is keep it tasteful, vanilla. A good rule of thumb? A picture you wouldn't mind your family (if they're not kink friendly/interested) or your supervisor seeing. I'll go a step further and say that you should keep the content somewhat bland as well. Too many of the trolls will just skim the interests or look for keywords in order to spam you. Your best friends at that point are our buddies block and delete.

Welcome to the forums and to the site.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

[:D]

Furr -> RE: Introducing - Profile Pic or no? (6/7/2006 6:48:40 AM)

It depends.  It is an issue of aesthetics.  You, CL, are gorgeous.  I on the other hand state in  My profile "short, fat, balding old Dom...."    I should not post My picture.
