wow, I think you completely misread my statements, I have only been drunk once. I just enjoy drinking too much to give it up at this point, these are some of my flaws, I'm irish-german so my family has at least two alcoholics, my grandfather died due to a life of drinking heavily, I'm supremely aware of the dangers of addiction. Your concerns are greatly appreciated, perhaps I will investigate the meditation in tx link but I'm a responsible smoker and drinker. Thank you.

I think I read exactly what you wrote.

At the very least, supremely at odds with Buddhist tenets.

maybe I'm not the best follower of the buddha's teachings but I know that and I am honest about my flaws.

Its because we are mostly attacked when we feast.

Remember the Tet offensive?

Musicmystery -> RE: Any other Buddhists? (3/24/2012 9:24:23 PM)

We drink we party we muslims eat wild boar. buddha was a fine man and he didnt want to go to war.
But allas nobody could stop the greed we like to ban. Not God not jesus not mohammed not any man.
But there was a phrase I remember,
About love and the glowing ember.
It is not to forget every day,
you have to prove your love again all the way.

I don't think that's been an issue since the Shaolin temple was destroyed.
(And looking at all them films, and that fucking Dave Carradine series, how the pissing Hell did the then emperor manage that? Nukes? Godzilla?)

MrBukani -> RE: Any other Buddhists? (3/25/2012 11:48:00 AM)

It was more about buddhies and booze, if it is allowed for them to drink.
And I do seem to remember Bruce lee was casted first for the role but they thought David would speak to a wider audience.
Too bad you say nothing bout my buddhist rhyme, I rewrote it of course but I think its a nice read.[sm=hippie.gif]

Moonhead -> RE: Any other Buddhists? (3/25/2012 11:51:20 AM)

The series was created by Bruce Lee as a vehicle for himself, but they needed a new leading man for it after he passed I think.

I am a buddhist. I am also a sadistic dom.

This would be an awesome slogan to put on a t shirt.

Moonhead -> RE: Any other Buddhists? (3/25/2012 11:57:36 AM)

Does a t shirt have Buddha nature?

Having visited non-vegetarian Buddhist temples in New York and Florida, I thought I'd offer this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist_vegetarianism

In Buddhism, the views on vegetarianism vary from school to school.

According to Theravada, the Buddha allowed his monks to eat pork, chicken and beef if the animal was not killed for the purpose of providing food for monks. Theravada also believes that the Buddha allowed the monks to choose a vegetarian diet, but only prohibited against eating human, elephant, horse, dog, snake, lion, tiger, bear, leopard, and hyena flesh.[1] The Buddha did not prohibit any kind of meat-eating for his lay followers.

In Vajrayana, the act of eating meat is not always prohibited.

The Mahayana schools generally recommend a vegetarian diet, for they believe that the Buddha insisted that his followers should not eat meat or fish.
