I'm a 53 year old male who is also dominant. At 5 feet 6 inches, I don't physically stand out as a giant nor am I able to compete with a world class weight lifter. My logic, common sense and realism do not allow me to delude myself into thinking that I can. However, physical attributes have never been my thing while personality and character are.
Although life has been good to me, as a multi-tour combat veteran of the Vietnam War I believe I have earned the right to say that I have also seen and experienced life at its worst. All of that is history though since I tend to live in the present and for the future. It is my belief that a person can best be served in life by letting go of the past and using it as a tool to better direct the here and now.
As the years have passed my priorities have changed. Materialism has lost the importance it once had. Certainly a big home, a new car or the latest in designer clothes are nice, but, in and of themselves, they all quickly lose their significance. People who have centered their lives around materialism are a turn off. I don't measure a person's assets by the tangible things possessed, but rather by honesty, truthfulness, openess, intelligence, common sense, integrety, loyalty, sense of humor. None of these things can be bought. A person either has them or they don't. That isn't to say that I surround myself with people who I take to be perfect because they are not and neither am I.
Even though I have been in the scene for over twenty years, I do have a well rounded life outside of the lifestyle. I work, play, enjoy life and have non-scene related interests just as anyone else does. The variety in my life is what makes me interesting. It's what makes others interesting.
I know who I am and who I am not. I know what I am and what I am not. I know where I have been, where I am now and where I'm going in life. Are all of the people in my life as confident? No, some haven't begun to ponder the realizations of their lives yet while others are in the various stages of figuring it all out. That's okay though because they all possess the skills needed to eventually accomplish the task.
