I havent been playing that long but I've heard some horror stories about people getting carried away and getting hurt. So what I'm wondering is if anyone here has a story about getting hurt while at play. Ever break a broke? Get a cut that required attention? Pick up an illness? This seems like a fine way to warn others to play smart and safe.

I've had people try to push objects way too big way too fast and with too little lube into me >.< Takes forever to heal, but no medical attention. I've had some severe bruises on my butt and cuts from flogging on my back, but again not so bad that I needed medical attention.

Let's just say this....lube, hardwood floors, high heels and being chained to the wall do not make a good mix.....[sm=ugh.gif]

You know OP, I'm all about safety...but somehow, this feels like a strange sort of wank thread--like slowing down to look at a car wreck. There are plenty of resources and information out there on safe playing practices--I worked as a DM for many years, and never saw a serious accident that required more than a band aid. Maybe that was in part, to a team of skilled DMs who took our jobs seriously and made sure everyone had a good time and didn't do anything stupid. I can tell you some of things we did to prevent injuries-- we never allowed anyone to leave their bottom tied up. If the bottom was helpless, their top had to be right in the area with them. We didn't allow anyone to play drunk or under the influence--no alcohol was ever served. There was always food and water--and we encouraged everyone to hydrate and eat--if a scene was getting really heavy, we would often leave a bottle of water in plain view for the top to see. It was a silent, unobtrusive reminder.... We always paid attention to how someone was bound and where, such that if they were tying them up unsafely or to something that wasn't designated for bondage, we made sure it was safe Rooms designated for bloodsport (cutting/piercings) were very well lit, and away from the areas where there were louder forms of play.'' If we saw something unsafe, we discreetly let the top know without the bottom hearing it--unsafe sex was never permitted. Everyone had to use gloves and condoms. period. we encouraged the use of "panic snaps" for bondage, Every DM knew how to operate every piece of equipment, so that if someone needed assistance, it could easily be given. the "house" safe word was made known to everyone (I never heard it. not once.) Negotiation/communication was strongly encouraged, and there were quiet areas available for folks to chat, away from play Good communication, not leaving your bottom completely helpless if you aren't there, and knowing how to use equipment and toys. Those things will give you a decent foundation.

Yup....all but the broken bones but I've been hurt close to that. I just got the injury fixed and shrugged it off. I get hurt all the time doing all kinds of ordinary things too....hiking, at the gym, cooking, tripping over my own two feet, etc..... People get injured and ill all the time. I just don't think it's that big a deal.

I have to agree with littlewonder on this one....people get hurt all the time, it doesn't mean they weren't being "safe" It just means sometimes things happen. Of course having said that, sure, I have been hurt before. Broken nose, broken fingers, dislocated shoulder, hyperextended knee. All during "play" time. I have also broken an ankle, a collar bone, ribs, and lost a limb while doing things that had nothing to do with "play"

I feel kinda left out. About the worst I've ever had is a bad muscle cramp or a well clawed back and ass.

Nope, no injuries so far, either for me or my partners. At most I've had my feet ache bad from standing up for a long time getting flogged... but that's because I have damage to my feet that was done while I was in the Army, any long standing causes them to ache more.

Never picked up a bug. Never got a cut. Nothing broken. Just good clean fun and lovely bruises.

Hardwood floors, heels, strappado. He decided to remove my panties instead of cutting them off. I fell off the heels and wrenched my arm. Two months before I could carry anything heavier than my purse in that hand. Six months for full healing. Needless to say, I've requested (strongly) that I be barefoot if tied standing from then on.

We were at a party, watching this horrendous single tail scene. He kept wrapping her and hit everything around him. He either didn't have much experience or thought way too much of his ability. The party host decided to not intervene when it was brought to his attention. His goal was to flick her butt cheek in an upward motion. Hit her between the legs. Just an amazing amount of blood. She ended up having to get stitches on her labia. <shudder>

No, I've never gotten anything more than bruises, sore/cramped muscles, or a little tearing and blood "downstairs". The last one admittedly freaks me out a little, but it's never been anything worth going the doctor about.

I had a twisted ankle once, slipping on a bit of water on the floor in high heels when going to fetch another whip... We had a good laugh about it, that it's a violation of the rules and the domme shouldn't be the one to suffer...

Had the outer aspect of my thumb go numb for many months after pulling on cuffs - nerve damaged from the compression of the cuffs. My dom was pissed that i didn't point out that my hand was tingling - but i have to admit that i didn't know that it was preceeding damage. dumb dumb dumb dummmmbbbbbbbb!

I twisted an ankle during a next day clean up. It had nothing to do with play. We were taking down the tents that had been set up outside the dungeon for extra space and I basically didn't see the spot where a tree stump had been removed. When I was compiling the information for the DM course, every reference that I checked or spoke with said that trips and/or falls are the most common public dungeon injury. As Des stated above, very often it has to do with female shoes. Other causes they mentioned of significance were electrical cords and wet floors.

I learned an important lesson once. When spanking a woman who has jeans on, make sure to check the area for snaps and buttons first. I should have started that one with "this is going to hurt me more than its going to hurt you."

I always played with sadists... So not only was I hurt but sometimes injured. It didnt`t have to be that way BUT...I had to much pride to safe out. Live and learn....

I or whoever I've played with have never actually had any injuries outside of a cramp, some muscle stretching from strain to be honest. I admittedly prefer the more extreme things the lifestyle offers but there is a tremendous amount of information available on playing safe. Safety first, you can never let yourself lose so much control where the other person's safety is not number one priority. I do however recall an incident at a get together where a man used a single tail on a woman and despite her pleads to stop, he was vicious with his assault on her, and that's what it was. She kept calling safe words before eventually an observer jumped in, took the whip from him and began whipping her lame excuse for a dom in the face. It was extremely satisfying and definitely merited me buying him a beer for what he did. I never saw that couple again at that particular venue.
