I love wax play.
I have never tried this but what if you had a bunch of dixie cups and different colourants. You could scoop up your wax with the cup and a colourant already in there, mix and pour. Would that be possible? or am i talking out my ass here? lol

If the cups were made for hot liquids it might work. The only problem I see would be keeping the wax hot enough to play with. Maybe if you used coffee cups and kept them on a hot plate?

Lest not forget body hair grooming prior to hot wax.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Taste the rainbow (4/15/2012 12:56:38 PM)

Damn I love being waxed. Subs have all the fun. [>:]

And "wax on whip off" = biggest mess ever ever. Ever! Trust me. That is an OUTSIDE scene!!

LadyHibiscus, Agreed but it was worth it. Hot wax sensitized the skin and made the whipping even better. I had to clean it up.

JanahX -> RE: Taste the rainbow (4/15/2012 2:33:23 PM)

I have permanent scarring on my back from wax play. I was burned by it terribly. Unfortunately I was tied down - and the more I screamed the more my partner seemed to not care. I learned that day - who he really was. It only took two years to find out.

Mupainurpleasure -> RE: Taste the rainbow (4/15/2012 3:41:57 PM)

You had me at wax.... especially if bound! One pic of experience in my profile. Once again I am sad you live in Alaska :(

Fair 'nuff.  But tops care.  There's picture contests.........

NuevaVida -> RE: Taste the rainbow (4/16/2012 6:35:49 AM)

I don't have a lot of experience with waxing but I remember LuckyAlbatross once talking about having various small crock pots for melting different colors, and making sure a large tarp or sheet was laid down before dripping wax onto the subject with a ladle. I think she's either written and/or given presentations on wax play - might want to tap her shoulder on Fet. She did say it was very messy, however.

This was a cute expression that somebody brought up during a wax discussion.  I'm just stealing it for a title.

Its the corporate slogan for "Skittles" :)

~FR~ (and slightly off topic...)

Last week at work some guys were talking about inserting birthday candles into ladybits. (They didn't realize I'd walked into the kitchen) I informed them they were doing it all wrong. They needed to pour the wax over the bits and scrap it off with cold sharp knives. (They were sharpening the knives at the time.)

The look on their faces was priceless. One said my 'freak-o-meter' just went through the roof. They have no idea...

cudos. hats off to lance, this is cool. thread should be in the art and photography section, the thread is about art and now also about photography :-)

does somebody know how wax ( the cooler type ) reacts with body painting? like having for example a black or white "canvas" before waxing?

LadyPact -> RE: Taste the rainbow (5/21/2012 8:05:42 PM)

Before anybody yells, this is not necroing the thread.  This is an update.

The candles that were made when I posted this thread were put to the test on Saturday.  I was the wax top for a tastings event that we had in Fairbanks.  Good reviews all around.  Even in just a ten minute 'taste', I had a number of happy, floaty people enjoying the wax.

Remember, D-types.  Once the sub has made you a great dinner, rubbed your feet, and given you oral, for a lot of them, wax is a favorite treat!

Whiplashsmile4 -> RE: Taste the rainbow (5/21/2012 8:20:42 PM)

Ooooooo... I've been down on my hands and knees cleaning the Rainbow off the tiled floor. (Priceless memory)

i'm not into wax play, but as a kid, i learned how to make candles in the dirt. i would dig out a neato shaped mold in the dirt, and then pour successive layers of different color wax into it.

~laughs~. OK, so I have figured out that I'm kinky. But ... You know ... I can't help feel relieved that my "kink" appears to not require covering my house in wax.

Don't knock it til ya try it!

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: Taste the rainbow (5/22/2012 3:46:42 PM)

LP, I missed this the first time around. Glad you updated. :)

The only things I've done is with votive candles, sometimes topped by high color, perfumed wax. The votive (Jesus or Mary pix on them) candles used to be in our dollar stores and filled up almost to the rim with soy wax. Several years ago, I checked what the stores had to offer and it doesn't feel like soy wax anymore...and they are only about 1/3 full so I stopped buying them.

The tiny, highly colored and highly perfumed ones were hotter than hades and were only good to drip on top of the soy or else it would blister. Tried it on myself first.

It's been several years ago, but I didn't get to do anything...artistic. I've never tried paraffin wax nor crayons. Using Saran Wrap over the skin was good for worried or hairy newbies. Using a knife to scrape it off was a hard limit, lol. Oil underneath was messy but helped with removal. Never used a flogger to beat it off cuz my floggers would have gotten messy and I like to keep them pretty. [:D]

I love the links others posted on getting pretty colors of candles, and I hope to remember to look up LuckyAlbatross' posts later on to find out what she said about wax play.

I've always had lots of fabric in my house, including leftover top sheets that are good to use for many different things. More comfy than making someone lie down on a shower curtain.

My bo is a very hairy guy and I have no wish to shave him. Gawd I'm stuck with Saran Wrap if I want to get into this with him. Except for his genital area, which is shaven. [;)] I just don't know enough on some things yet...like...if he's oiled up enough, can I use a knife to lift off the wax without ripping out his hair? I guess I already know the answer to that will be NO. [:(]

Because I have seen nobody else's work, it would be nice to see pix posted here of different candles (like the ones you made), and of designs others have created on someone's skin. Love that pic someone posted...but I wish there were more.

I will also need to find out how hot wax affects genital piercings. Do the metal barbels make it more likely that someone could suffer inintentional burns deeper under the skin? I know that when I wore ear rings years back, going outside in winter made the metal freeze and it hurt the heck out of the inside meat of my ear lobe. I don't know if heat damage would be something serious or just a momentary...higher intensity...that will fade and not cause any complications.

This was a cute expression that somebody brought up during a wax discussion.  I'm just stealing it for a title.

As many folks know, I happen to enjoy playing with wax.  Paraffin wax, to be precise.  So far, not a bad thing, right?

Now, I do happen to have a paraffin pot.  It's convenient for when you want to melt a lot of wax.  Unfortunately, if you do your wax play from a paraffin pot, you are stuck with one color.  Usually clear.  If you mix an actual color in your paraffin pot, not only are you still stuck with one color, but then you have to clean the damn pot before you make another color.  One color is not enough fun, ok?

There is always the option of jars (glass) so that you can have a variety of colors.  This isn't a bad option if you are going to play at home.  You can either light the wick directly, which can tend to make the wick put itself out as you are tipping the jar to pour the wax.  The other option is to use another heat source, (like a crock pot) to melt the wax, which means dripping stuff that you didn't intend to from the water, the jars get hot, and can be a pain in the tail for the wax top.  If you don't play at home, this means you have to listen to glass jars clank around as you get to your play destination, you have to bring the pot, towels, and a bunch of other crap that makes you feel like it was required to travel with your whole kitchen just to do some wax play.  Too much hassle!

What's left?  Make the damn candles in a variety of colors, because that was the point, the rainbow, right?  Light colors, dark colors, clear if you want to do a base to make some kind of artistic creation.  Red, blue, yellow, purple........

Do any of you have any idea just how much mess I have made in My dang house just because I thought "taste the rainbow" was such a cute little idea??????

Candles, colors, wax play, cleaning the mess.  Discuss.

Sounds wonderfully delicious!
Hmm....might I suggest fondue pots? Rather cheap, they will melt wax and not a problem to have 3 or more colors
