Feathered wings unfurled
with a crowd of rustling murmurs
and a shining hand was offered
to the form on bended knee

cloaked and draped in ebon silk
the eyes glanced up in challenge
and yet within the shadowed pools
the anger hid a sorrow

porcelain fingers gave caress
against the bruised disfigured cheeks
and trailed by tip along horn's arc
accepting without words

and so they met with deference
the angel and the devil
a gesture made from mercy
that began the sinful dance

* * * * *

Picture then, if you will, a tall, angelic figure, wings stretched out and forward, curved, almost as though to shield a shadowy figure kneeling at its feet - one with curving horns and horrible disfigurements. The angel makes a gesture of mercy, touching the devil with compassion, only to have the touch spark something deeper and primal in both.

Who should dominate? Who would submit? And kindly note that no genders are assigned either - yet. I'll take votes for who owns which role, and the genders of each, over the next week and return to take the highest tallies and write further. I may spin into prose or concoct a short story. It will depend entirely on my mood.

All replies are welcome. ;-)

I'm a huge Luis Royo fan, and this reminded me of one of my favorites from his Millennium collection.
So, while I won't make suggestions for how the plot should thicken, I do have suggestions for the cover. [:D]

No one voted, more the pity. It's nice to involve an audience, but they have to exist first.

Since you piped up, Poise, you get to decide. Catch me on the other side and I will write a piece just for you.

I have discovered you better late than never.
You have sparked my interest. If you are still seeking opinions, my I offer mine.
I believe that your angel is male. Visually perfect in every way. Has never known a day of fear, sadness or pain.
Your devil is female. Beaten but not broken. Her eyes show him a mirror of his life. Guilt eats at his heart and it is with this feeling of remorse for all that he has that he drops to his knees for the first time.
With his eyes full of tears and staring at her gnarled toes he misses the look of calculation in her eyes.

Hmm, it shows that it went through but that you haven't read it...

Please check your bulk mail. If it's not there I can send it again or to an email account, if you prefer. That's up to you. [:)]
