The horses are not "natural" any more than all those dogs are, humans interbred them to get the features they wanted. Funny about the eyes! My mom's side of the family is from the south of Italy, and they are RAVENS. My dad gets my mom riled by talking about her AFRICAN ancestry! Though his Lazio family has just as much mixing in spite much of his family is light eyed and fair. I am SO furious I missed the light eyes!

I've always wanted green eyes.......but alas brown. And yes, the Arabian horse has even changed dramatically here in the US, in the last 100 years. All purebred domesticated animals are not 'natural'. Neither of the breeds of horse in the photos is 'natural'. Their breeds have been created and changed by human intervention.

Sad thing about the majority of Arabian horses is that they are BONKERS. Just raving batshit psychotic. I am really not for the kind of breeding that harms the animal's health and well being. Look at bulldogs from a hundred years ago. The difference is staggering. Animal eugenics in reverse. ETA: Sorry. Back to your discussion of hot asian chicks.

I've been very lucky. All of the Arabian horses I've been around and had, have been just totally awesome. More pet like than livestock. I actually prefer them.

Actually it's not true that you can't ride a draft breed. You can. You can't use a pony to pull a plow but any breed can be used for riding or pleasure driving. You may have trouble mounting some of them, though. We've always had quarter horses, they tend not to hold grudges and have forgiving temperaments. But that came from having a high strung kid who couldn't be put on a high strung horse like a thoroughbred. I used to have an unrequited love affair with a friend's son's blond Belgium. I really wanted that horse.

Some of the Spanish breeds are gorgeous and the Friesian, minus the foot feathers, is just totally gorgeous and amazing and beautiful and I wouldn't mind having one but I don't have that much mooooola.
