OsideGirl -> An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:23:17 PM)

I'm taking this down.

Arpig -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:25:57 PM)

And you wonder where people get the idea that there are fake profiles on here.....?

juliaoceania -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:30:27 PM)

wow... much better odds of meeting 5 guys worth talking to in a 24 hour period than I ever had at a local night club... I am REALLY glad I found CM..lol.

I am telling the truth, I have spent many nights in my 20s talking to dweebs, players, assorted jerkoffs, men that asked me straight up for sex ... and many other real life trolls in bars/night clubs.. They do exist in the real world. So if you want to do a comparison of how many "nice guys" you meet in a real life meat market as opposed to online I would find this much more enlightening.

mistoferin -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:31:08 PM)

Yup, that sounds about right. Not only do you have to go through it when you first sign up but it repeats every time you make a change to your profile because I think you pop back up in the "fresh meat" category.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:32:22 PM)

My initial reaction was to say shame on you for playing with peoples' heads, because even the 2.5% deserve your honesty and consideration.

However, I admit to being interested in the data, and somewhat mollified by the fact it appears you were honest with those you actually spoke with.

I still don't think it's right to pose, even in the name of research, but I can see where having the information from that "test" tells you something.  I think, unfortunately, it only tells you what you might already have known.

Interesting topic, if somewhat ethically vague...

OsideGirl -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:33:21 PM)

The profile was set up as test. It was up for 24 hours. It was not set up with the intention of leading people into a long meandering cyber relationship that involves massive amounts of masturbation. (Matter of fact, we were honest about it whenever we could be) There is a difference, even if you choose not to see it.

missturbation -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:37:17 PM)

I have to say i don't usually agree wtih fake profiles but this time i think the results were worth the faking. I'm sure us female subs are not the only ones who put up with players, sulky Dom's and can't take no for an answer Doms. But just maybe some of them will read this thread and maybe just maybe give up the ghost !!

meatcleaver -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:37:19 PM)

A lot of men will make a Faustian pact if they think pussy is on offer.

It seems to me that women want a relationship and men want sex but such unsubtle approaches smack of desperation.

It all seems a little too much for me to even bother just so the person on the other end can have a giggle, though by all acounts some blokes appear to deserve to be giggled at.

BreakMeShakeMe -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:40:45 PM)

I find it interesting...

... no, I see the difference, however slight it may be.  You have to conduct yourself as you see fit.

I'm not entirely comfortable with that kind of "test" when the subjects involved do not give their permission to participate.  I do wonder how you might feel in the reverse situation.  Only you know for sure, but if you find you might feel the slightest bit .... oh, what's that word.... lied to, then perhaps you'll understand my comment about the ethical vagueness.

As I said, interesting data.  Interesting as well that you would admit to it.

I'm positive about this too. We just didn't want to put up any more than one profile, so went for the place that would likely have the largest response.

As far as the nightclub thing....as a psych major, I probably would do a study if I could...however at 40, I'm a little out of the meat market night club age group. They'd probably ask if I was someone's mother. :o)

While that is so true, and so well put, I also thought it was so obvious as to make the test an unnecessary jerking around of others.

Yep. As far as I can see it was for the giggle factor which makes it all a little tasteless and only adds to the bad name of online correspondences.

CollaredProperty -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:50:28 PM)

hee hee and soooooooooooo true, when will people learn to read?

Well, I think we agree it was unnecessary.  I don't think one mistake a bad name makes, though.

As long as the actual people involved don't have a complaint, then I can't really judge beyond saying I wouldn't have done it.

caitlyn -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:56:21 PM)

Perhaps some that responded, were using you as part of a test they were conducting.

BrattyBottomRN -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:56:44 PM)

ACK!  I totally freaking went through this!!!!  ARRRRGH1

gooddogbenji -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 2:57:59 PM)

I'm gonna say I have thought often of doing this, but have always been stopped by my unsurmountable, well, laziness.

I think it is indeed very interesting what the results were, even if the test may not have been entirely ethical.  It having been posted here saves many others from having to do the same out of curiousity.

As to jerking people around, yes they did.  However, within days the jerked-around were informed, and I am sure their lives have gone on.

Yours,

benji

PhilaMale1958 -> RE: An interesting test (6/6/2006 3:02:17 PM)

It really doesn't sound like anyone got jerked around,
and I do find the information interesting.

I always assumed that woman get flooded with E-mail
from an ad or new profile listing, and that my responses
to an ad had a slim chance of being taken seriously.
Looking at the data, I think that is still, and will continue
to be the case.

Thank you for the informational incite.
