I am just curious as to what the odds are that a woman who has had her tubes tied could get pregnant when a man uses a condom?

Depending on the method used and whose numbers you believe, failure rates run anywhere between .1-5%. ~stef

A tubal is 98 to 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Using condoms along with that, I'd say the chances of conception are then less than 1%.

Low, but still however possible, I knew a girl who got pregnant 18 years after her tubal.

now which of you are medical doctors?to give out medical advice so freely? just out of curiousity. you dont want to get pregnant only one way 100%dont have intercourse! and i do play a doctor on tv...lol

I like to play with doctors...tee hee I would say that statistically speaking Saint, the chances are extremely slim provided all went well with the tubal and follow up to the procedure was taken. Some believe an emmaculate conception once took place...so nothing is a for sure thing. I would not let the minute possibility of a pregnancy occuring weigh on anyone's mind and hinder their activity in such a situation as you described. I would also question the validity of someone claiming pregnancy based on those circumstances....possible? yes...probable? doubtful.

I ain't takin no chance...as I tie fastlane in a knot and say "get that thing away from me." giggles, I could never get by with that, but I would say, between the tubes tied and a condom....I would bet the house, kids and first hubby, that you are in no danger of impregnating. shrugs in wonderment.....is this a serious question? Giggles
