Thank you kitkat, Heretic, Musicmystery and all. I googled up the Rush Limbaugh stuff and found . . . wait for it . . . slutsvote.com. Yes, I know, being a web designer, I should have figured the whole story would have been at a dot com of the same name. My bad, but thank you again for telling the story and answering my question.

Rush Limbaugh Story Links (Bing)

Prior to that Rush Limbaugh incident, Romney lead in the woman's favor. After the Rush Limbaugh incident Obama's gained the lead among all women and it "was quite substantial, 59-38 percent."

The Sluts Vote website runs a news blog.

I made a transparency (gif) so you can slap it on top of your photo with your fav art program and make your own Sluts Vote avatars. If you have trouble, post your photo and I will make one for you.

Sluts vote but evidently they are not bright enough to realize that Limbaugh is not an elected official.

And yet many are still brighter than some posters.

Haaaaa! This was right on time. I have often wondered the same thing when I see it. I'm glad someone asked.

Heh without bringing politics into it, Taz beat me to it:)

If y'all spent more time in P&R, you'd know that Rush Limbaugh, who spent three days calling a law student who testified before Congress a slut and a prostitute, is the poster child for the Republicans War on Women, which includes 1,100 pieces of anti-women legislation in Republican controlled state legislatures.

Here's Sandra Fluke's testimony: http://www.whatthefolly.com/2012/02/23/transcript-sandra-fluke-testifies-on-why-women-should-be-allowed-access-to-contraception-and-reproductive-health-care/

Hearing on women’s reproductive health and contraception before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee held on Feb. 23, 2012

Transcript of testimony by Sandra Fluke, a student at Georgetown University Law School, a private Jesuit institution:

“Leader [Nancy] Pelosi, members of Congress, good morning. And thank you for calling this hearing on women’s health and for allowing me to testify on behalf of the women who will benefit from the Affordable Care Act contraceptive coverage regulation.

FR

Since when are oral contraceptives CRITICAL health care?

I differentiate between hormone therapy and oral contraceptives. Hormone therapy attempts to replace what is lacking in a functioning reproductive system. Oral contraceptives attempt to break a functioning reproductive system.

I don't see why religious institutions (like a Jesuit university) should have to pay for something that violates their doctrines. I would also fully support the Christian Science Monitor in refusing to provide health insurance at all for the same reasons. I would support a JW organization from having to provide coverage for blood transfusions.

Sandra Fluke was not REQUIRED to purchase Georgetown's health coverage, she was merely required to have health insurance (as most students in most universities are). She could have purchased health insurance elsewhere that covered what she wanted covered. If my employer didn't cover blood transfusions, for example, I could choose to purchase an additional rider that did cover it or I could choose to change employers, or I could refuse their health insurance completely and purchase a different plan.

Lucylastic -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 3:13:11 PM)

Rush limbaugh and his followers cant differentiate between them
and since when is viagra critical health care for that matter?
Not only critical care is covered by insurance companies, why are you changing goalposts?

As Sandra Fluke testified above, there are many uses for The Pill other than birth control. It was certainly critical in this case:

...“A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome, and she has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries. Her prescription is technically covered by Georgetown’s insurance because it’s not intended to prevent pregnancy.

I roughly knew about it from reading news online. I didn't particularly go into details because anything to do with Republicans makes my head hurt more than the P&R section.

needlesandpins -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/3/2012 4:20:27 AM)

we have free birth control over here. the theory is that you don't have unwanted pregnancies, children being abused/neglected because they are not wanted, or children having to go into care. of course it doesn't always work that way, but the money saved from prevention far outways what it costs to raise a child in care. some of these pills can be used to treat other problems and will be given free for those too.

seems to me that there should be a very long line of women waiting to give Rush a kick in the cunt. he should be torn a new one just for the occation

needles

I don't understand why this is so hard for the Religious Right to grasp.

Key word there: "religious".
It tends to cloud judgement in my experience.

as for Sluts voting: Mine has one

LadyHibiscus -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/3/2012 1:05:41 PM)

Searching, birth control pills ARE hormone therapy. I wa diagnosed with endometriosis and fibroids relatively early, and being on the pill kept me from having a hysterectomy and possibly other surgeries as well. PCOS is nasty, and regulated faking-out your body with birth control, which acts to "fool" your body into thinking it's pregnant, can help minimize the symptoms.

Perhaps some information might be helpful in order to understand the upset behind this.

Viagra has a few uses. Sold as Viagra, its used to treat erectile dysfunction. Sold as Revatio, its used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. Understandable, right?

Birth control pills have a much wider range of uses.

The hormones in "the Pill" can also be used to treat other medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, adenomyosis, menstruation-related anemia and painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea). In addition, oral contraceptives are often prescribed as medication for mild or moderate acne.[122] The pill can also induce menstruation on a regular schedule for women bothered by irregular menstrual cycles or disorders where there is dysfunctional uterine bleeding. In addition, the Pill provides some protection against breast growth that is not cancer, ectopic pregnancy, vaginal dryness and menopause-related painful intercourse.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_control_pill#Non-contraceptive_uses

However, no matter its uses, its labeled birth control. No secondary names.

So, you are suggesting that a religious order should be allowed to determine the use of a medication simply by its name. In essence, deciding what a physician can prescribe for the patient.

kalikshama -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/3/2012 2:27:43 PM)
