LA,

I am confused, do you use protection when having sex or not?  Also, the not swallowing thing, thats for safety right?

Caretakr -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (6/27/2006 9:32:10 PM)

I don't trust anyone else to see to my health-that's up to me.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (6/28/2006 12:00:50 AM)

We do not use protection with each other.  Any girl Master plays with is tested first.  I am tested annually.  Anyone he chooses to share me with is either tested or will use a condom.

cutelinygurl84 -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (7/19/2006 6:56:07 PM)

I dont see the point in using a condom during oral sex.  Dont that defeet the purpose.  Me and my Dom use condoms during intercouse (sex) but we see no need to use it during oral sex.  I love tasting his cum and swallowing it.

What about rimming and transferring bacteria to the urethra and causing bladder infections?

Bearlee -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/7/2006 9:57:25 AM)

Soooooooo... for those who don't use protection during oral sex, but don't swallow...does that mean you don't let the guy cum in your mouth, or do you allow it but spit it out.  If that's the case (spitting), of what health benifit IS that?

I understand that on the East Coast, 'Safe Sex' is (GENERALLY) practiced/promoted amd means always using condoms for both oral sex and intercourse...

and on the West Coast 'Safer Sex' is (GENERALLY) practiced/promoted and means to use condoms for intercourse, but it is (GENERALLY) considered 'safer' sex even if you allow oral sex without protection (likely with some discretion, I'd guess).

No need to flame me over this...I'm just offering something I read somewhere.  It may or may not be my own opinion.  (Though I am a CA native!)     [;)]

I can't speak for the East Coast, but in the San Francisco gay community, oral sex is often considered "safe sex", because it is not considered to be a risk for HIV.

There is some scientific evidence to back this up view from the University of California Medical Center in San Fancisco:

I insist on blood tests and more than one because as I understand this, AIDS can have a gestation period of as much as 6 mos. before showing up on a test.

You are right, it can take up 6 months for HIV to show up on a bloodtest, and several other diseases as well.

quote:

However, it is also my understanding that oral sex by a woman on a man and with semen, is the least likely of all sex to contract any STD. Same with a man performing oral sex on a woman, unless there are any exposed blood vessels, which should not happen but could.

That is actually not correct, oralsex, if not performed with a condom or a dentaldam is actually a high risk activity, ESPECIALLY if there is semen involved (and pre-cum is just as bad) even if u don't swallow, the danger is having it in your mouth..

quote:

Given a clean bill of health with several tests...the consumation of semen orally offers no chance of transmitting AIDS. AIDS is STRICKLY  a blood-borne desease and must 'hit' the blood stream (open vessel) to be contracted.

Not correct, if u have any opeing to the bloodstream in yt mouth or throat, thats its way in.. Its not like u have to inject semen into yr bloodstream for it to be dangerous!!! Everyone has microscopic cuts on their hands, lips and in their mouth..

To have completly safe sex, one must use dental dams AND condoms for oral sex, gloves for any fingering and condoms on penises and toys. Also, if a person has ever had herpes anywhere on their body, you should consider covering up the area and have no genital to genital rubbing/contact, as this virus lies dorment in the nerveendings and does not need an opeing into the bloodstream to cause an outbreak, just touching the skin.

popeye1250 -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/17/2006 1:32:56 AM)

I'm monogomous and the V.A. (Veteran's Administration) tests us every year for all of that stuff.
I don't mind at all using condoms and actually I'm one of the few guys who likes them. I use "Rough Rider" condoms, the ones with the ridges and bumps all over them to give a woman more pleasure!
I don't use a dental dam or anything like that on a woman though.
I like eating pussy to be natural.
I'll wear a condom for oral sex if a woman wants though.
The last woman I was with we were together 3 years and were monogomous.
I've been celebate for the last two years and it's getting to be a real pain in the ass!
I'm DEFINATELY ready to meet someone!

LeatherRose -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/18/2006 11:28:31 PM)

And then there are those of us with the lovely latex allergy.

So, do I use a dental dam when receiving oral sex?  Nope.  And even though my sub must use lambskin or vinyl rubbers for intercourse, when it comes to oral, once again nope.

I know the guys say rubbers decrease their sensation, but from my point of view it decreases MY sensations too.

I know the risks, and because of my job I get checked often anyways.

Rose, try "Rough Rider" condoms! They *increase* a woman's sensations!
That's why I like to use them.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/26/2006 6:21:47 PM)

I don't use any protection when I get or give oral, but then the person I am doing it on is always a commited partner and has been checked for STD's comes back negative everytime, and is commited to only me.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/26/2006 6:32:42 PM)

You can get diseases from kissing too, like mono, and even std's. I don't kiss or share body fluids untill their 100 percent proven clean and they agree to be faithfull and commited to me and me alone during the course of our relationship.

I insisted my partner was tested before we had any contact beyond kissing.  I've gone to the clinic with way too many friends, and it's probably made me paranoid and hypersensitive, but my stance is better safe than sorry.

Though, I think anyone who is engaging with multiple partners who are engaging with more partners still, testing would be a waste of time.  Testing only really makes sense when you're sure the people being tested are not having sex with others.  Otherwise, the results you see aren't reliable, IMO.

I often wish I were born into the security that was there for past generations, where the STDs that circulated were curable.  since I can't make that my reality, I choose to be involved with just one partner, insist on testing and then move on without feeling the need to use protection.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Oral Sex - Protected or Unprotected? (8/26/2006 6:52:16 PM)

Lambs skin condoms have holes and stuff in them being made from skin are pourus., and so are not as effective for stopping STD's or pregnancy.

Fast reply

Its majorly gross sucking on a condom.. eeeew.. so i tend to go with out protection when it comes to giving head and the like.

But then i dont give head on the fly to strangers or "unknowns"  Granted.. its not always a "known" thing..

but i calculate the risk and its mini to me

At the time we used lambskin it was the only option available condomwise, period. There was the pill, but that sucked because you could always screw up and still get pregnant or really screw things up and have them neutralized by antibiotics.  There was the shot, I got off of it after gaining 100 lbs. in 5 years thanks to it tricking my body into thinking I was pregnant the whole time.  Granted not having a period that whole time was cool.  So condoms were the only choice.

As for getting pregnant, not a problem now, I have a lovely scar that runs from my belly button all the way down to my pubic area to show for that.  I am very, very picky with partners and make sure that they are d&d free first before any fun happens.

Personally, I wouldn't be freaking out so much about HIV as I would for HEPATITIS.

I'm mildly allergic to latex, so I can't use most forms of protection (except naturally the REALLY expensive stuff). My partner and I were both clear when we got together and when I play with others I play with friends I trust not to lie about being clean.

I am latex allergic.  You can readily get latex-free barrier devices on the asking from any planned parenthood or community clinic, or local health department that distributes safer sex materials.

Defeat the purpose of what?  A barrier device is to protect one another from infectious diseases -- PERIOD.  HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and hepatitis are readily transmitted through semen or through female fluids. (Basically, anything that carries even minute/microscoptic amounts of white or red blood cells and/or DNA, and that's everything including sputum/saliva for some diseases.)  The oral cavity happens to be one of those receptacles that, depending on the person, can be very suceptible to open transmission through wounds, non-intact gums, cracked lips, etc.

You probably grabbed that west coast thing because of the SF Dept of Health advisories for gay men that they don't have to use condoms for oral sex...that the risk of contracting HIV is negligible.  Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to hepatitis or other things that might linger in a pussy or on a cock.
