Got any other sources at all for this story, then?
And I note that you're evading the point I raised about the Fail in that post: which of the stories from that members of the neocon massive in here have cited turned out to be anything other than ridiculous bullshit?

And again, the irony of the vetting issue escapes you. No analysis--just a "I'd place my bet" on "more right than wrong."

Your reasons? None. What about the economics of it? Can these be quickly verified or refuted? Does that then establish the argument, or is that just one factor? These things would be evidence. But you've no interest in these things. You say the Mail headline, and you're satisfied. Despite the odds against accurate reporting in the Mail. The probability here, based on long history, is on poor reporting.

Just blathering on isn't an argument. For example, the old chestnut that light bulbs are dark suckers...lots of reasons presented as "proof," but there are more likely explanations:

THE DARK SUCKER THEORY

For years, it has been believed that electric bulbs emit light, but recent information has proved otherwise. Electric bulbs don't emit light; they suck dark. Thus, we call these bulbs Dark Suckers.

The Dark Sucker Theory and the existence of dark suckers prove that dark has mass and is heavier than light.

First, the basis of the Dark Sucker Theory is that electric bulbs suck dark. For example, take the Dark Sucker in the room you are in. There is much less dark right next to it than there is elsewhere. The larger the Dark Sucker, the greater its capacity to suck dark. Dark Suckers in the parking lot have a much greater capacity to suck dark than the ones in this room.

So with all things, Dark Suckers don't last forever. Once they are full of dark, they can no longer suck. This is proven by the dark spot on a full Dark Sucker. The dark which has been absorbed is then transmitted by pylons along to power plants where the machinery uses fossil fuel to destroy it.

A candle is a primitive Dark Sucker. A new candle has a white wick. You can see that after the first use, the wick turns black, representing all the dark that has been sucked into it. If you put a pencil next to the wick of an operating candle, it will turn black. This is because it got in the way of the dark flowing into the candle. One of the disadvantages of these primitive Dark Suckers is their limited range.

There are also portable Dark Suckers. In these, the bulbs can't handle all the dark by themselves and must be aided by a Dark Storage Unit. When the Dark Storage Unit is full, it must be either emptied or replaced before the portable Dark Sucker can operate again.

Dark has mass. When dark goes into a Dark Sucker, friction from the mass generates heat. Thus, it is not wise to touch an operating Dark Sucker. Candles present a special problem as the mass must travel into a solid wick instead of through clear glass. This generates a great amount of heat and therefore it's not wise to touch an operating candle. This is easily proven for lightbulbs too. When you compress a gas, it gets hot, right? So the light bulb gets hot because of all the dark being squished into the wires.

Also, dark is heavier than light. If you were to swim just below the surface of the lake, you would see a lot of light. If you were to slowly swim deeper and deeper, you would notice it getting darker and darker. When you get really deep, you would be in total darkness. This is because the heavier dark sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lighter light floats at the top. The is why it is called light.

Finally, we must prove that dark is faster than light. If you were to stand in a lit room in front of a closed, dark closet, and slowly opened the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet. But since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet. So next time you see an electric bulb, remember that it is not a light emitter but a Dark Sucker.

bloody typical bullshit from the mail, The LCP is palliative care. Not life saving.
It might behove some of you to learn the bloody difference.
My sister is involved in palliative care and has been for 20 years. I myself have been involved in geriatric care in the UK and Canada for many years, have any of you that are claiming these are death panels ever been involved in the caring/nursing of severely ill/end of life situations in a hospital or care facility???
Withdrawl of treatment happens everywhere, Socialised medicine or private, US, Europe, USA and everywhere else. I agree with kitkat and the smarter chaps
God some peoples ignorance is just astounding

Next we`ll be hearing that hospice care is cruel and ends lives.......by the lunatic fringe.

Hey Lucy.....what would these dick heads do/say if they weren`t making up complete bullshit?

I wouldn't allow myself to be impressed by
The National Enquiror being up for a
Pulitzer. Newspapers and writers nominate
themselves, so the country is quite full of
and papers that have had that honor.

Withdrawal of treatment is not euthanasia.
No one is put down and it's not like denying
a diabetic their insulin.
There has been a fairly recent high profile
example of withdrawal of treatment.
Elizabeth Edwards. She was lived a little
over a year, I believe after treatment stopped.
My neighbor came home after doctors told
him there was no more to be done.
He receieved hospice care, lived a few
months and died at home with his family.
And withdrawal of treatment cannot be done
without consulting with the family, the power
of attorney or if the patient has one reading
their living will.
I find it ironic that people who don't think
healthcare is a right, think people should be
turned away from emergency rooms and
denied treatment and medicine that could
save their lives would have any problem
with euthanasia. Because a form of it is
what they advocate.

Well.... he seems like a fairly intelligent guy that might be worth listening to.

What I find disturbing about the article in the Mail is not what he said. If it is true it's true and needs to be addressed on that basis, BUT the article didn't say where he said it or in what context. Neither does the article in the Telegraph. Nor does the article in LifeNews. All three articles are penned by different authors, but based on the unaccredited article by the Mail.

Personally though, I find these matters appalling. If someone has truly reached a stage that it is kinder to let them die than to keep them alive, I'm absolutely against the prolonged suffering of starvation and/or refusing medical care to avoid the fact that they are better off dead. It would be far kinder to end their lives quickly and painlessly. I'm pro-death, so I don't have an issue with the idea that we might be doing some people a kindness by helping them die humanely. I like the idea of death panels infinitely more than I like the idea of torture panels.

Yes, I said torture panels. Withholding food, water, and medicine are practices of torture AND they are civil rights violations in just about every civilized society. We cannot refuse food, water or medicine to animals, POWs, political prisoners, criminals, or the poor. Right? Yet, when there are patients with no hope of recovery some people think we are displaying some kind of superior morality by torturing them to death.

Compared to the final days of many patients who undergo starvation and medical complications due to non-treatment, a bullet would be more humane.

The Fail never does.
That's why the only people who appear to take the bullshit it prints seriously who don't live in the home counties are American neocons.

The chap "claimed" in the article that he was hooked up to IV morphine... Pain is not part of palliative care, pain management is.

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't think that sways my opinion much though. Now I see the practice as only 99% evil.

Sadly, lying about the NHS isn't, or this twit Pulcinelle (sic) would find himself in the dock.

Which I must concede is probably for the best. I cannot foresee, nor do I ever expect to see a law allowing it that would not invite abuse.

~FR~

This OP from someone who fancies himself as being "interested in" or "keeping up with" 'economics,' as these 'bloggers' intend to so besot us with, from among others, some 'econ blog' horse's ass presenting the Fight Club movie character, in avatar and name, as head 'econ' writer. This being understandable even more so than ironic that the writer is too chickenshit to reveal his real name.

Chicken Little economic commentary ... yeah, there's the education, folks.

Peyton Place re-runs have seemingly morphed into "As The Horse's Ass Turns" (by whatever current name) soap operas in the guise of 'econ blogs,' as we speak.

Hmm. I wouldn't normally bite at a scaremongering dailymail article but... is there really quality of life living forever? I mean, how many tablets would you be willing to keep you alive while you're body and mind slowly fails?

As many tablets as it took until such time as I no longer considered my quality of life sufficient.
