[image][/image So medicare and medicade was ok and great for your mom and dad, your grandparents, aunts and uncles,or elderly neighbors, as long as YOU didn't have to be involved in it. Now that it is offered to everybody as health coverage, you are afraid you might be on it , so it's ubsatisfactory care ,, go figure.
The 25 hundred fine, tax, ,, well thats the premium payment for a year, kinda like the payment you make every month now, even for car insurance, btw,, mandated by almost every state. Hell, those on SS right now have to pay every month for medicare and medicade, oh, I forgot, that doesn't bother you.

It wouldn't have done any good to let the republicans in. All they do is say NO NO NO to everything.

So YES YES YES to higher taxes on the poor is good in your view

Actually, I am considered "poor" as my income is below the federal poverty line, which is a joke in and of itself. But I'd rather be paying slightly higher taxes if I knew it were helping those who had much less than myself. What taxes I do pay seems to be going more and more into "corporate welfare" and not to the welfare to the really needy in our society.

This poll was conducted by telephone from May 31-June 3, 2012 among 976 adults nationwide.

Yes, 976 people in the US have decided what the rest of the US wants.

mnottertail -> RE: OBAMAS FUCKED (6/30/2012 7:35:23 AM)

Part of the difficulty (for the innnumerate teabaggers) is the randomness of the poll, it is random in the wrong way.  That is, were out of the 976 a national proportion of teabaggers, national proportion of democrats, national proportion of independents, national proportion of republicans surveyed?  Nope, then you have the opinion of 976 people, not an opinion of america, the numbers mean  as much as an unswallowed load.

The far lefts "health care" plan

Wow. That's a hefty reaction to a pretty minor fine.

The only people who will pay more taxes are the FREELOADERS WHO DON'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE.

Go buy a policy, don't make yourself a burden on the taxpayers, and you won't have to pay any additional tax.

Or is this too complicated?

If you are so worried about people who go to the ER without insurance, I have a suggestion for you. I suggest you write your congressman to petition the government for opium dens where instead of providing medical care, everyone without medical insurance are sent to the opium den. That would sure save the taxpayers a lot of money. I am assuming all your hard earned money wasn't lost when the economy had a melt down.

I have news for you, you didn't earn the sun, the moon, the stars or any of the clothes on your back. You did not earn the oil in the ground. You did not earn the food that you eat. Be grateful that you have anything. A comet could fall from the sky tomorrow. What's to stop it?

Is the fine accumulative and are you subject to a fine even if you only earned a dollar? I heard that the fine will go to 2.5% of your income. That is not a minor fine. Do you have to pay interest and additional fines "hidden charges" collection fees and such on that debit?

It is nice to you know that your assets are liquid and flow like the Nile river.

You are also not considering the legal precedent this sets. Though government fucks with the people on a daily basis, it is an expansion of the means to do further harm.

subrob1967 -> RE: OBAMAS FUCKED (6/30/2012 12:32:41 PM)

Who will pay for the poor people subsidized by the government?

If, for instance, the rich and the middle class buy the minimal coverage necessary to avoid the tax, or penalty, or however your side wants to spin it, how does the subsidy get paid for?

Out of the 500 Billion Obama's stealing from Medicare over the next 10 years? Did the Dems just say, fuck the old, I only care about the poor young people?

Last question, would you want to be the politician that's been running on middle class warfare for over a year, only to have your signature policy turn out to be a large tax increase on the middle class?

Either way you look at it, Obama just shoved Uncle Sam's cock up the asses of the middle class by forcing them to either buy an insurance plan or pay a fine.

The rich won't play, and the poor can't afford to play, so that leaves the 99%

Irony, Obama has it.

Thats how polls work. Is this news to you?

Its also worth noting that it was a partnership between two far left organizations that sponsored the polling

I'm talking money, dollars and cents; not legal, moral, or theory of government: When you have the money, these things aren't a problem. Most people have money even many of the poor. Many cry poor when their poverty mostly has to do with priorities. Someone with very little can be more generous than a wealthy neighbor. Did the world end when gasoline became more expensive? It didn't. This is not to say that it is comfortable. Most people already have medical insurance as it is. You would be picking up the tab for only a small percentage of the population. One danger is making the insurance companies a monopoly. Another is investing in a wrong paradigm. IF those can be managed, there won't be a problem and all of this is cry baby stuff.

erieangel -> RE: OBAMAS FUCKED (6/30/2012 1:26:03 PM)

Actually, and this is the one major thing most people do not get, unless things have changed since I last read the bill, like with the SCOTUS ruling, there is no legal way for collecting the penalty (or tax).

In fact, the bill explicitly states that while a penalty will be charged to anybody who doesn't purchase health insurance, it also explicitly forbids the IRS or any other governmental agency from forcing you to pay it. The stories of pay the fine or go to jail just are not true.

tazzygirl -> RE: OBAMAS FUCKED (6/30/2012 1:30:52 PM)

Friday's poll from USA Today/Gallup showed 46% of Americans agree with the court's ruling, with 46% saying they disagree. Opinions were predictably split along party lines: 79% of self-identified Democrats agreed with the decision to uphold the president's law, while 83% of Republicans disagreed with the ruling.

Independents mirrored the poll's larger results – 45% agreed with the Supreme Court's decision, and 42% disagreed.

A CNN/ORC Poll taken at the end of May indicated 43% of Americans favored the Affordable Care Act, while 51% opposed the measure. Broken down, 13% said they opposed the law because it was not liberal enough, while 34% opposed it because it was too liberal.

A CNN/ORC Poll taken at the end of May indicated 43% of Americans favored the Affordable Care Act, while 51% opposed the measure. Broken down, 13% said they opposed the law because it was not liberal enough, while 34% opposed it because it was too liberal.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare, saying the individual mandate, while not constitutional under the Commerce Clause of the constitution, was valid if viewed as a tax.

Following the decision, Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP nominee, renewed his vow to eliminate the law if elected president, and House Republicans scheduled a vote to repeal the measure in July. That effort, which could pass the Republican-controlled House, isn't expected to get anywhere in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

The Gallup survey taken after the court's ruling showed 31% of Americans said they wanted the entire law repealed. Twenty-one percent advocated repealing parts of the law.

Another 25% said the government's role in health care should be expanded beyond the level stipulated in Affordable Care Act.

The Gallup poll was taken June 28 by telephone from 1,012 adults. The sampling error was plus or minus four percentage points.
