I apologize here, when I don't say the actual town, but I am the only Kenlyn here. It's a pretty small town. And up until yesterday, the place I work at was listed on my profile.

Well, not too bright of you to state that Kenlyn is your real name, when you fear being stalked. Mind you, I'd say it's difficult to find someone online based on a first name alone.

Sure, some people feel like life has done them wrong or they have some wicked self entitlement complex, but for the most part, people don't complain for no good reason. Shit happens, life happens. You have no idea what makes people say what they say or do what they do and it's pretty immature to judge people based on that.

I sincerely hope the OP never finds herself in the position of having to be on welfare or disability. Or make ends meet. Very humbling experience.

One blink and your entire life as you know it can turn upside down, inside out.

Being she said she's from a small town in New Mexico, with that added bit of info, it would be rather easy. Then again I've found people's addresses, phone numbers, etc...just by googling a person's screenname and putting together the info from the other sites that come up.

I've done that too because people, for some reason that escapes me, tend to use the same username for various sites. I purposely don't so that I can't be cross-referenced. I did some looking into this one guy I had exchanged messages with on FetLife and within a short period of time I had his real name, his cell phone number, his P.O. Box number and the names of a few of his real life friends. He never knew how easy it was to find all of this information. Some people just don't consider what they put out into cyberspace.

But I still don't think if you only have a first name alone that you can come up with much online. If she thought her name alone was going to make her found out, she should have also considered things like posting photos of herself, etc. etc. ;)

Edited to add:

Do you remember that one from Arizona? The so-called domme who was a self-proclaimed artist/writer/etc. and had 20+ profiles? She posted links to her "art" in the "Art and Photography" forum. Those links led to sites where she used her real name. Oy. When I messaged her with the information, she accused me of hacking her computer! *LOL* Some people don't think about these types of things.

littlewonder -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/2/2012 12:45:07 AM)

I do stuff like that all the time just for fun when I'm bored lol.

I have an ad on craigslist right now for some work I want done and when someone sends me an email, it comes in with their real name or their email addres attached to it and then I can trace that person on Google to find out whether they are trustworthy or experienced or not. I have gotten tons of offers in email but only one out of all of them that I would call trustworthy just because of information I found on facebook, twitter, gamer websites, forums elsewhere, linkedin, etc...it's just way way way too easy.

I admit I use this same screenname everywhere but one, I'm not hiding anything. If someone finds out something about me, woopdeedo; and second, I'm lazy and forgetful and I can't remember more than one at a time lol. I still even forget what one I use. I always forget if they wanted a screenname or an email address so I have to try both. lol

But if you do a search of littlewonder and even littlewonder Baltimore, all you get are sites for David Bowie and for Little Wonder lawnmowers lol. Nothing at all comes up about me. I once went even like a hundred pages in and absolutely nothing about me. So, it's possible to use a screen name for all places. Just make sure it's extremely common or the name of something commercial and make sure you change your settings to put your profile on private or opt out of it being in a search engine if given the option.

crazyml -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/2/2012 1:05:04 AM)

Complaining is one of the things we get to do in a free society. As you've said yourself, people should stand up and be counted when they see something wrong.

Would you write Martin Luther King off as a whining little tosspot?

What about the people that fought for equal pay for women? Are they just despicable whiners?

When you talk about complaining about Taxes... surely that's a part of the political process.

Or is your objection simply to people's complaints that differ from your own?

I prefer to think of my attitude as a Better-Than-Some attitude. Because, the truth of it is, I know for a fact that I am. I have worked incredibly hard for every single thing I have accomplished. I understand that some people need help to get where they need to be in life, and I don't condemn them for it. I do, however, applaud those who do it on their own.

Oh. Bless your heart. Seriously.

FR
A civilized society does concern itself with
the needs of it's members. Not only for
noblesse oblige reasons reasons but for
the good of the society as a whole.

It's in the best interest of a society that
it's streets not be overrun with one eyed
beggars dying of the plague. It's in the best
interest of a society to have the population
be educated and have skilled workers.

All that every man for himself bullshit is
Dark Ages thinking and no one who
knows anything about the Dark Ages is
nostalgic for the Dark Ages.

Compassion and tolerance are traits civilized
people have or attempt to cultivate.

No society has been torn down by helping
it's members have a better quality of life.

Life kicks the shit out of everyone
eventually including the can doers.
People that get knocked down
sometimes need a hand getting back
up. There's no shame in that.
Every flock has it's vulnerable sheep
and good shepards try to protect all
their flock.

And then sells it or slaughters it so it doesn't hold up the rest of the flock causing the rest of the flock to be easier prey.

If you took my yearly salary and doubled it, I would still be considered "poverty." However, I still pay all of my bills by myself. I've fully furnished several homes since turning 18. I've traveled fairly well and fairly regularly. Never to Europe, but all over the States. I've never taken a handout from my friends, my family, or the government. In fact, when someone needs money, they have a tendency to come to me first. Mostly because, I'd rather have to eat Ramen for three months straight than see someone else lose their car or house or whatever.

It is because of this, that I have a HUGE problem with people who do nothing but complain. You complain about money. You complain about taxes. You complain about extra fees at the airport. You complain about rising gas prices. You complain about the cost of your insurance, your water bill, your groceries, hell you even complain about the price of a Big Mac! And somehow it is always the government's fault.

Sweetheart, the government isn't responsible for everything ya know. And they can't fix everything. Get your priorities in order, make a damned budget for yourself, stick to it, and, for the love of God, STOP COMPLAINING! If I can make half as much as the cap for "poverty" and still be doing alright, you can too.

If you were only in your late 40's.......

Winterapple -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/3/2012 9:58:51 PM)

I did say tries.

I've never had sheep but I've had and
have other animals and sell and slaughter
has never been my policy but I've never
been solely dependent on animals for
my livelihood so I can afford to be
compassionate. As a wealthy society
can choose to be compassionate.

Jesus is often called a shepard by
Christians. Does he only look over
the strong? What would Jesus do?

Winterapple -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/3/2012 10:03:01 PM)

I've also had sick or injured animals become healthy
again after given care. And the runts of the
litter always have a special place in my
heart as do underdogs in general.

If your rent is only 250 for two people... dont ever move.

Your bills are not even remotely reality based.

Hahahahaha... kids.

I dunno. We bought a small apartment building a few years ago that we're paying $1100 a month on. (4 apartments, each with 2 bedrooms, bath, etc). We're renting out 2 of our apartments for 250-300 a month.

DeviantlyD -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/15/2012 4:44:35 AM)

Not at all. These are nice apartments.

DeviantlyD -> RE: It's not THEIR job. It's yours. (7/15/2012 4:52:43 AM)

Oh, I'm sure. Especially renting them out for enough money to barely cover your mortgage payments? Pfffft.
