Maine Gov. Blasts Massive Expansion of IRS Agents
From The Blaze:

According to the House Ways and Means Committee, the IRS will be adding 16,500 new auditors, agents, and other employees to “investigate and collect billions in new taxes from Americans.”

quote:

Governor Paul LePage of Maine:

This tax will add to the $500 billion in tax increases that are already in Obamacare. Now that Congress can use the taxation power of the federal government to compel behavior or lack thereof, what’s next? More taxes if we don’t drive Toyota Priuses or if we eat too much junk food or maybe even pea soup?

This decision has made America less free. ‘We The People’ have been told there is no choice. You must buy health insurance or pay the new Gestapo – the I.R.S.

Even more disheartening is that reviving the American dream just became nearly impossible to do. We are now a nation in which supports dependency rather than independence. Instead of encouraging self-reliance we are encouraging people to rely on the government.

Leftists had best hope that the American people quickly forget which party whore unilaterally gave birth to this monster

The party that's been making occasional attempts to fund their spending by raising taxes, rather than insisting that they can run the country on credit, obviously.

You mean the GOP's Romney, when he was governor?

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 8:33:41 AM)

"Bush Light" Obama has insisted that you cant raise taxes in a recession (just before he gave the middle class the largest tax hike in history with Obamacare)

Maybe we should go with Romney, he doesnt seem quite so schizoid

Musicmystery -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 8:35:24 AM)

Romney claims he never raised taxes in Massachusetts. Now the Supreme Court shows us he did.

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 8:35:40 AM)

It was popular in his state, Obamacare is UNpopular

See the difference?

And something like that is more feasible at the state level. EXAMPLE, you dont like draconian controls over your life, move to another state

Do you deny that we will be reporting compliance with the new Obamacare demands on our tax returns

How do you think compliance will be enforced. The compliance fairy, perhaps

No matter Thomas, it doesn't bear comparison to the Gestapo!....Nothing more than rhetoric deigned to get those who are easily persuaded that Obam is the Anti-Christ, inflamed!

Nice effort however, see how many will argue a false statement with you.....I'll get my popcorn!

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 9:18:31 AM)

May not be quite the Gestapo

Still, Americans arent enamored with the IRS and to so closely associate the nice men down at the local IRS office with the Democrats and Obamacare wasnt exactly a smooth move

Do you really think it takes 16,500 people to handle a few calculations for maybe 3 million tax payers?

Why don't we all just avoid paying taxes? Let's do as the Greeks do. [8|]

No need to enforce Laws. Is that the Conservative mantra?

How do so many keep drinking the kool aide of right wingnut lies? Gullible.

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 9:58:48 AM)

The point is more, people will resent the left over this every April 15th, Comrade Vincent

In 2010, House Ways and Means Committee Republicans issued a report saying the IRS may need as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees "to investigate and collect billions in new taxes from Americans."

And to show just how old these claims are.. and how stupid those making the claims are appearing

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 10:09:01 AM)

Odd how your "factcheck" article is written in such a bitter, angry, partisan manner, taz.. [:D]

The House Ways and Means committee is in a far better position to know, as they are the ones who decide. Dont you think?

tazzygirl -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 10:18:42 AM)

When its the Republican members who issued that statement?

Dont think so Sanity.

Read the key words.. you are a smart man... Im sure you will see the glaring difference.

Sanity -> RE: The ‘New Gestapo’? (7/8/2012 10:24:55 AM)

Yes. Theyre the ones in charge taz

The grownups, the only ones in DC, too.

COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS
The Wrong Prescription:
Democrats’ Health Overhaul
Dangerously Expands IRS
Authority

IRS EXPANSION
Although it is impossible to know exactly how many new employees the IRS would have to hire
to enforce the individual mandate and other provisions of the Democrats’ health care bill, the
IRS’s own data, plus reasonable assumptions about costs and program responsibilities as
described below, suggest that the number of additional examiners, agents, and other
employees could reach 16,500.

First, assume that the IRS budget would grow by the $10 billion that CBO indicates could be
necessary. 10 While there might be some early-year start-up costs to prepare for the added
workload, most of the costs would accrue in the last six years of CBO’s ten-year budget window,
when the individual mandate and other provisions, which present the bulk of the new
enforcement responsibilities, take effect. Thus, for this analysis, assume that $1 billion total will
be spent by the IRS in the first four years to prepare for the mandate with the spending increasing
to $1.5 billion per year in each of the last six years. 11

Face it.. the news you want to so blatantly push into our faces on this thread is years old. The fact that your 'man' is too stupid to realize it makes it even more humorous.

"I'd really like to see Mitt Romney release more than one year of tax records because there's been disturbing reports recently that he's got a ... secretive Bermuda corporation that no one knows anything about, investment in the Caymans," Wasserman Schultz said. "Americans need to ask themselves: why does an American businessman need a Swiss bank account, and secretive investments like that?"
