That literally has me sitting here in tears. Since turning 50, I have been having a really hard time accepting my mortality, to the point it has really put me in a bad place mentally every night when I lie down and try to still my mind.

I am really going to work on allowing it to pass through me, I think I have locked it in.


When I put death as My fear, that is literally when and where I think about it. Every night in bed. It scares Me to death. Weird.


Also Greedy, I think PS must have missed the pink glitter combat boots thread. I forget where it was,lol.

I often think along the same lines and have a living will that prohibits life extending measure in the event of an accident or long term illness.

Many years ago I had part of my body blown away and spent over a year flat on my back.

The following two years I spent in a wheel chair and on crutches. Seven bone grafts later and three additional surgeries brought me to rehab and a year and a half later I walked out of Balboa.

During that first year I was unconscious for the first three months, had no feeling from the waist down and I was blind but my sight returned after six months.

I was unable to clean myself after urine vacating and/or eliminating body waste the embarrassment never ended and there never was a day I didnt think if my side arm were accessible I would ended it.

I have already trod that horrible path, never again.

Status: offline 		I'm not afraid of death itself but only because my perspective on it got changed when at one point I thought it was the only option I had left. I only worry about not living my new life to the fullest.. there is jut so much I want to do and see, I'd hate for that to get cut short.

Status: offline 		Falling. I have no problem with heights.......the higher the better! But since I was a child I have had recurring nightmares that involve falling. Even falling off my front step - since I fell 15 months ago and am still having mobility and pain issues.

Grasshoppers. One hot summer day, a long long time ago, I was outside playing with the neighbourhood boys. We were all wearing swimsuits. I was in a one piece. And the lovely boy next door put a grasshopper down my back! They totally creep me out. A few years ago the family were travelling across Saskatchewan duri g a very hot, dry summer. The grasshoppers were so bad, it was amazing. I sat there in the passengers seat with my eyes closed, cringing with every little thump on the car. When we finally stopped, he had to clean the door handle, so I could get back in the car. It was gross.

Ever since my husband's death and the death of 2 brothers in law and my dad and many many other people in my family within the last few years, I've come to accept death and even at times have begged for it but thankfully God realized it wasn't my time.

Status: offline 		Dementia and subsequently not being able to care for myself. Every time I forget to turn the water off or can't find my keys I think 'please, not yet. I might have another 40 to go.' :-(

Spiders: piece o' cake. I never kill them. I usually catch them in a glass and 'relocate' them outside, except for the 'pet' spider living in my motor home. He/she comes out to listen when I play my audio books while I'm relaxing on the sunny bed in there. We have an agreement: s/he won't eat much.

Snakes: I'm startled when I see them while out hiking but I just tell 'em I come in peace and step right around them.

Rodents: not afraid, but they squick me no end. If the cats bring one inside I have to get one of the guys or a neighbor to remove it. I throw a paper towel over it until they get there. I have no trouble cleaning up the blood, but the sight of the mangled bodies nearly brings my lunch up every time.

The very worst rodent incident I recall was when I lived on my docked sailboat and the cats could come and go shore side. I heard them chasing something around during the night and prayed they were just playing with each other. In the morning I swung my bare feet out of bed and stepped directly onto remains of the fattest f*cking vole I'd ever seen and hope never to see again. I literally screamed as my feet crunched the bones and squished in the blood and entrails. Worst of all was having to dispose of it myself...into a dustpan, then burial at sea...AFTER I'd disinfected my foot with a quart of rubbing alcohol. F*cking brutal. I was a changed person after that.

Status: offline 		Here's the thing: spiders who live IN our homes? Are used to our homes. Not outside. Move em otu of their environment isn't doing them any favours.

Jumping spiders are my faves, I never kill them. There was a big one hanging out in my bathroom window, not sure where she took off to. The screen isnt a perfect fit, she was probably an outdoor dweller.

Status: offline 		While I'm not afraid of dying, I am afraid of dying and no one finding my body for weeks or months later. My aunt died like that about a year ago and I was shocked that even her own children and sisters never found her body until a month later when someone started to smell something. The excuse was that she had become a recluse and wouldn't allow anyone inside due to gaining a lot of weight from meds for a bad heart and depression. I really don't want to be her.

Status: offline 		Don't know how you call them, so I placed a picture of them on here....they scared the shit out of me a a kid as they always were a plague in MY ROOM that only got better once I spent more time in my room as a teenager and so caught them when they were very tiny and could kill them before they grew 10 times bigger....then over time I defeated them....but I had days where I discovered 4 of them at the same time and it freaked me out...they were mainly apparent, as far as I remember, in autumn and having about 38 of those in my room over a period of 4-8 weeks ain't funny I still get shivers over my back when I hear them as sometimes I hear them before I see them... On top of that...it aint fair that they can defend themselves from my cats with their smelling gas they can shove up the cats nosey nose

Spiders, as others said already...I am fine with most of them, but once they get bigger and thicker my tolerance level is gone....I also explain at times, that this is the reason that I am having 5 cats...that way I ensure that always one of them is within reach to rescue me from those awful 8 legged creatures...

falling over my feet....yeah I know that sounds petty or ridicoulus but over the last years I often twisted my ankles and by far I am not walking as relaxed anymore as I used to....just this monday I realised it again when I went down to the river with three of the kids I am working with....I felt I needed ages to join them on the river as I walked very careful down that uneven path...though the path don't even have to be uneven for me to fall it's tiring to fall often-ish for no real reason, I can tell you

Status: offline 		stinkbugs! LOL....my former home in Allentown, PA was covered in those things. I read an article once that they first came into the U.S. through a shipment of fruit to Allentown, PA lol. That explains why they were everywhere there. They never bothered me but my daughter would scream her head off about them. I would just pick them up and throw them outside or flush them down the toilet and then wash my hands really well because they smell awful.

Since I've been here in Baltimore though I've only seen a handful so far.

I remember once at one of my workplaces in the UK sitting on the computer in the evening and then hearing THAT noise....I happily went rappidly off to bed which thankfully was in a different room on a different floor

They do give me shivers...Am ok with squashing them when they crawl on the floor but hate when they fly around and I can't get to them...they do give me the creeps...

My parents believed that they used to occupy my room as I had the warmest room in the house....damn me, should have never swapped my room with my brother

Until today I tend to realise them being around somewhere before anyone else from the family...as I am just trained to discover them FAST.

That I have to leave this life while they are still so very young. That I will not be here for them long enough.
Dementia. Loosing my mind is a horrific prospect.

I despise spiders, but have gotten better at controlling my reaction.
Swimming in the deep, open ocean. All that unknown space and it denizens under me. *shudder*
I dislike ferris wheels. The combination of hight, slow moving, and a paranoia at every creaking or shuddering in the structure gets to me.
