Oh my another person who has not taken econ 101 but has an uneducated opinion to infict on us.

Instead of complaining, educate. What did they teach you in econ 101, that told you that such thinking is wrong thinking. You are being vague thompsonx. Not all of us are rocket scientists.

I just want them applied equally across the board without ways to avoid paying them.

I loath taxes though I accept a certain level as societal needs. I totally believe that any tax should be avoidable. Thus no tax may be imposed at the point of a gun.
It is taxation at the point of the gun which allows government to entertain social engineering. It is abhorrent. No different than a mafia style racket imposing its protection service upon you. You don't decide what you pay, they do.

Grow your own veggies and never need to go to the grocer. Fine. Raise your own cattle. Fine. Buy commercially (retailer) - pay the tax.

Taxes are a neccessary evil nobody likes to pay them but everyone knows that there are certain things government has to provide like police 'protection', but taxes are often used for social engenering, to push people into doing what the "leaders" want them to do.

Do you mean things like not allowing children to work in mines and not allowing gold mines to dump cyanide into the water table?

quote:

When taxation becaome wealth reditribition even more object.

You mean like when the government taxes each resident .30 cents a pound for sugar and redistibutes that income to 1700 wealthy sugar farmers?

quote:

When it is used to force people to buy something they don't want even more oppose.

Do you mean like stealth bombers and such?

quote:

Remember you get more of what you subsidize, the great society subsidized single parent families so for the last 50 our tax money has been detroying the families of poor people.

The greath society subsidized the oil corps the banks and agribiz and it did not destroy them.

It is presupposed that when one enters into a discussion that they come to the discussion prepared.
Anyone who proposes a flat tax is woefully uneducated about taxation...unless ones view of taxation is to fuck the not rich.

That requires but a law. Care to take a stab at real social engineering? Think you're up to it?

In case you had not noticed this statement is self contradictory.

You mean like taking taxpayers money and giving it adm.exxon, and the banksters?

You want to live here and enjoy the benifits of membership in the most powerful nation on earth but you don't want to pay for it.
Dude get over yourself.

You do not view transfer of wealth from the general populace to the corporations as social engneering?
If not then perhaps you might describe what you feel constitutes social engineering and why it is wrong?

Since you have yet to come to a discussion prepared it would appear that you have fixed nothing but your own ego.

No, I view those as bailouts or subsidies.

What I feel doesn't have one damn thing to do concerning what social engineering is. Besides, feeling is a liberal trait I leave to you. Personally I prefer to think.

But, DAYAM!!! If that's your idea of social engineering you came to this discussion unprepared.

So far you have failed to answer the question. What do you feel constitutes social engineering and why is it wrong.

You might think about getting a dictionary and learn what the word feel means. If you choose to use a made up definition that would be your choice but it would quantify your ignorance and arrogance.

Still waiting for you to supply us with your defintion of social engineering.

If you were my subbie, I would punish you for saying such a thing as this. I would tell her, education is not an attitude. You are to be smart, but an attitude is going to get you into trouble with me.

From Wiki, social engineering (political science)
Social engineering is a discipline in political science that refers to efforts to influence popular attitudes and social behaviors on a large scale, whether by governments or private groups. In the political arena, the counterpart of social engineering is political engineering.

The term is most often used by, on the one hand libertarians and free-market thinkers, and, on the other, social and cultural traditionalists as a criticism of those who propose to use law, tax policy, or other kinds of state influence to attempt to modify or altogether transform existing social mores or power relationships (actual or perceived): for instance, between men and women, or between different ethnic groups

Not my definition. I did not define it. But I basically agree.

Now, dear thompsonx, have you learned anything?

Ok, thompsonx you might laugh at me, but I am going to take you by the ear and put you in the corner until you calm down. You are having a temper tantrum. What you are exercising is not free speech.

It would appear that by that definition and your opposition to social engineering that you are against the freeing of the slaves, womens sufferage, birth control,...aint you just a lil sweet heart.
