finish its start up before it begins to

I love the JPL comment. And I'm wondering if Curiosity will stay the entire time within the crater area or is it able to climb out of the area over the next two years? I admit I really don't know how large the crater is or the mechanics of Curiosity. I would assume that they would want the rover to explore more than just the crater.

They thought about attempting a descent into
a crater with one of the previous 2 rovers, its a
risky, time consuming thing... Though having
said that when all its main objectives are
complete nasa will get a little more daring,
although my guess is if its going to climb anything
it will be the central mountain.
