My oops moment was asked if I enjoyed ATM. "Well, how else are you going to get cash if the bank is closed?"

Now I am quite a fan of non banking ATM. (However a lot of non kinky friends use atm in IM convos referring to at the moment. ::Snicker::)

MercTech -> RE: whoops! (8/12/2012 9:36:12 AM)

CBT.... I love CBT

Computer Based Training lets me blow through an 8 hour course in about 45 minutes and I can go back to doing something interesting.

Karmastic -> RE: whoops! (8/12/2012 10:49:26 AM)

my biggest "whoops" was thinking that conversing with a bunch of "weirdos" who like kinky stuff meant they would be more accepting and inclusive of WIITWD. the whoops was that it really meant opposite of inclusive for some who think being kinky and BDSM are akin to being in a hierarchical club with some perceived superiority based on some contrived definition of what experience is.

OddBall -> RE: whoops! (8/12/2012 11:22:23 AM)

LadyPact, I'll have to dig up my copy of SM101 but i thought people had formed all the subsets into that 4 letter word to be all inclusive. One catchy word that brings everyone together. Much like the version of triskelion supposed to represent Dom-sub-switch. Maybe the community has grown to the point BDSM should be back to it's original meaning and Master Slave Dominance Submission (MSDS) employed. LOL That should get a laugh out of anyone who knows what an MSDS sheet is.

TNDommeK -> RE: whoops! (8/12/2012 12:17:14 PM)

I know what a MSDS sheet is and I thought it was funny when I first heard about it.

I have ooops moments all the time. No really, nine times out of ten when I am reading the forums I will see you guys say something and I'm like what the hell? It took me forever to figure out WIITWD meant. I just assume that later on I will see it spelled out for me.

And as far as some of the book references, I believe I have scared the woman at my book store to death by asking about some of them. She just walks over to the '50 Shades of Grey' stand and says "here is what we have on that kind of thing" lol

I do not "play" in public, and I have no involvement with "leather", and have no desires to experiment with either of those things. I think that most on here know that about me, and they are ok with it.

For me, it is all something very personal. That said, I do learn from those on these threads who do have experience with all sorts of things I may never try. I can not ever recall anyone acting like they had some

My biggest whoops was actually a learning experience, where I learned to be absolutely sure I was capable of doing something, before I agreed to do it. It is better to just leave it on the table, with both parties knowing it will take lots of work, and even then, it may not happen.

everything you said, taken out of context, makes perfect sense. well said!

if you would, can you please explain how any of that has anything at all to do with what i've said? i.e., put it into context of something that i've written.

Is this about you being butt hurt because people reminded you of posts you've made where you said you were a newbie? You are the one stating you have no experience. No one else made that claim for you.

no, not everything is about me, or you trying to make it about me.

i never stated i have no experience, and your incessant stalking and need to attempt to belittle me is kinda sad and creepy.

You implied that some folks

I am saying that has not been my experience. Everyone I have come across is more than willing to share whatever they can, and they have never tried to make me feel somehow less than them, just because I do things differently.

thank you for explaining that, i really was that dumb, and didn't understand you.

i have to say, you're lucky. i've perceived the need for many to want to compete, which goes against the very fiber of my being. none of my self worth comes from how i identify (male, D, etc etc). my perception is based on replies to me where someone who doesn't know much of anything about me feels compelled to proclaim their knowledge of my level of experience, or what they perceive as a lack of "experience". to me, this simply means they have a lot of self esteem wrapped up in the BDSM label, and need to feel superior. that's where those words came from.

IRL, i've experienced the same, but more from other male Ds who seem to feel threatened by me, or who liked showing power. perhaps that's more of a male dynamic that i don't subscribe to (sorry, i'm not sure if you're a man or not).

littlewonder -> RE: whoops! (8/12/2012 7:17:51 PM)

my whoops moment was me assuming everyone into bdsm were adults and didn't become whiny babies when they found out that they are just like every other human being on the planet and not part of some special back patting club.

To Me, MSDS is going to be a material safety data sheet and it always will be.

Where people got this idea that BDSM was ever supposed to be all inclusive, I'll never know. It's not a bunch of folks sitting in a big circle who are chanting "all are welcome".

When you say all inclusive, you have to play the tape to the end and realize who all that includes. The unsafe, the incompetent, those who cause harm without concern for the damage that they do. Think really hard about that.

However, if you'd like to provide some substantiating evidence about the "MSDS" that you speak of, I'd love to read about it. We leather people tend to be history buffs about the lifestyle, ya know.

OddBall -> RE: whoops! (8/13/2012 6:47:14 PM)

I was just making up the MSDS to give the M/s and D/s their own catchy acronym. It seemed funny to me due to it being the same as a Material Safety Data Sheet and fit into this string of Whoops. I claim no great knowledge of things and wasn't my intention if i came off that way. I've only been around the life since 2000 off and on. I also only meant for the encompassing of the 2 letter acronyms in the "all inclusive". Sorry my inexperience may have me tripping over things stupidly. When I came on the net that was the pitch and how it was explained to me at that time. In no way did i mean to include individuals whom endanger others safety and ultimately public perception of the lifestyle.

ME TOO! i had a few chuckles over it, and was gonna reply just to say lol and add my own attempt at humor.

please, do keep contributing and being funny. please don't let others tell you how to post, or feel that you have to explain yourself. i know, i'm sorta telling you how to post now, so just to be clear, what i'm saying is - post exactly how you want to post! and, what you're posting is great!

ps - re inclusiveness - i agree, and hope many others do, that the best spirit of BDSM is inclusiveness. of fucking course that doesn't include rapists, child molesters, or any other number of people who use BDSM as a cover for some bad or unreasonably dangerous shit. i thought that would be obvious to all of us. really, i think it is, but seems to need repeating for some.

The good part about it is that history can always be learned and learned from.

The only time that I hear the term "inclusive" out in the kink world is usually as it applies to pan-sexual groups. Personally, I attribute this more to how the leather community went from male homosexual only, to then including lesbians, and finally including straight folks both male and female. It just really comes down to people won't be barred due to their sexuality. Not necessarily that everybody should be doing this or should be allowed into clubs.

While not all of BDSM is directly related to the leather community, there's a heck of a lot out there is linked. You might be very interested in the leather archives as a research point.

OddBall -> RE: whoops! (8/14/2012 4:29:48 AM)

Karmastic,

I can only follow my nature, I suppose, which is to find humor in things when I'm able and try to convey my sometimes scattered thoughts clearly. I may be mistaken on a subject due to my own lack of knowledge, experience or understanding. But I try to correct that mistake when shown the error.

LadyPact,

I'll look into the leather archives. Thanks.
