How about Roy Orbison?

It's over

Then there's Janis Ian - At Seventeen

Wow! CRYPTICLXVI that is a great song and so sad at the same time!

My second sad song is "Back to the Island" by Leon Russell...You gotta love Leon!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJcQC9NxEDE

Takes a while to start because the beginning is just pounding surf..so be patient....

I love Johnny Cash... the only time a celebrity has died that I felt emotion. I knew he was going to go soon after June had died.
I think my initial connection to him was that my father liked him so much.

My father played this song for me a few years ago and it killed me. I literally burst into tears every time I hear it, including now finding you all this link. If you read the words, you will freak out.

Where Have You Been by Kathy Mattea.

Two songs get me every time and I am NOT a cryer in general.
Dolly Parton
Hard Candy Christmas
probably because I was born in hell week and getting through that has always been tough.

And George Jones
He stopped loving her today.
because when I love it is forever.

If my son had been a girl, his name would have been Brandy, cause I loved that song so much!
