TheHeretic -> Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 8:00:03 PM)

There are times when you count your blessings for the evil also being incompetent.  Such is the case with the attack on the offices the Family Research Council in Washington DC.

You have to wonder what he was planning to do with all the Chick-fil-a sandwiches in the backpack.  Toss them on the bodies?

It's interesting to note, as well, that the FRC opposes all hate crime laws, on principle.  Will they alter that now, do you think?

Is the Family Research Council shooting a hate crime?

quote:

FBI officials said Thursday that the shooting of a security guard at the Family Research Council's D.C. headquarters on Wednesday may fall in the "hate crime/terrorism nexus," depending on the shooter's motive.

FRC is a socially conservative Christian advocacy organization that opposes gay marriage and abortion, among its other causes. In an interview on Fox News Thursday, FRC President Tony Perkins said he thought the attack should be classified as "terrorism," but some other commentators have suggested that the shooting may also qualify as a hate crime, if it can be proven that the attacker was targeting the group's religious beliefs.

Suspected shooter Floyd Lee Corkins II "has strong opinions with respect to those he believes do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner," according to his parents, and Corkins is said to have yelled that he did not like FRC's politics before opening fire. He was also found with a backpack that contained more than a dozen Chick-Fil-a sandwiches, which could be a reference to the chicken chain president's very public opposition to gay marriage.

What cracks me up is how the morons squawked so hard about the press calling Gabby Gifford's shooter a 'right winger' not every time a fucking gun is discharged inside a city limits they are running around frothing about "lefties" like liberals are going to take as some personal embarrassment.

Or the Tea Party

Or, the Koch brothers...

TheHeretic -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:01:24 PM)

Don't forget the attempted bridge bombers, Sanity.

Luckily, this guy was as incompetent at mass murder, as the administration has been at getting the people back to work.

Owner59 -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:01:37 PM)

So when the cons made guns supper easy to get.....they figured they wouldn`t be the ones to get shot?

Typical.[:D]

I see the extremist gun fondlers aren`t so concerned with the victim/hero as with their guilt trip over the dozens of recent rightwing domestic terrorist attacks.

A sorry excuse for a response....at best.

Are those the talking points handed you by your authority figures.[:D]

Sanity -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:04:09 PM)

Yeah... "speculation"

Theres a smoking gun, a Chick-fil-A bag full of sandwiches, a conservative christian organization that was shot up... He told the security guard, ‘I don't like your politics,’ seconds before opening fire

But at this point his motivation is "speculation"

At this point I have to apologize to you for suggesting that you lack standards in that other thread, Lucy

It is clear to me now, that you have at least two of them.

I think it's the FBI doing the blaming here.

I lost track...are they leftist or rightist?

Sanity -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:07:02 PM)

Yeah, I know [:D]

So what other leftist plots is the FBI up to?

DaddySatyr -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:14:16 PM)

Well, leaving the after-massacre snack out of this ..

IF the guy actually mentioned the politics of the FRC, it is a hate crime except for the fact that the group may not be a suspect class.

I have always opposed "hate crime" laws and continue to do so. I think it is a very steep slippery slope when we start trying to legislate how people think. It's a built-in way to make everyone a criminal. It's the beginning of the end.

I do think it's interesting that if this guy were wearing a crucifix and was going into a Planned Parenthood center, there'd be no question about motive and there'd be no doubt about a course of action.

Ban all weapons (including knives and axes)

Hang this guy by his balls

and sue his church/group for whatever you can get out of them.

God bless America ... we need it.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Regulate.

Try to maintain a sense of balance.

We don't ban alcohol or automobiles -- we regulate them.

Typical con.....always worried about the free speech rights of criminals.....

Why is that?

And don`t give a shpleal about your ideals or whatever.....

Who the fuck cares about the free speech rights of criminals?

DaddySatyr -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/16/2012 9:24:19 PM)

Actually, I care about everyone's right to free speech but only because I care about my right to free speech.

It has to apply to everyone or it's meaningless.

There are plenty of people I wish would shut the fuck up (if wishing made it so!) but, if I shut them up, some day, they'll be able to shut me up.

The tone of your post proves that you stand opposed to this idea. So, when the time comes, I hope you can wrap your head around the idea that it's what others want to impose on you (and that your own narrow-minded thinking is what brought it on)

Peace and comfort,

Michael

tazzygirl -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/17/2012 12:24:10 AM)

The head of the Atlanta-based fast-food chain has spoken out against same-sex marriage, a stance embraced by the Family Research Council. Corkins had been volunteering at a U Street NW support center for the gay community.

Maybe in the closet?

As with the other shootings.. the man is clearly off his rocker if he can go in and kill someone over this.

Sanity -> RE: Another shooter on a mission (8/17/2012 5:39:13 AM)

Dan Cathy, the owner of Chick-fil-A, was backing “the biblical definition of a family" and not "speaking out against" gays or gay marriage as he has been charged

When someone or a company is viciously attacked for being Christian or for expressing Christian values, anyone can be a target for practicing free speech of any kind

And thats not the kind of society that most of us want to live in

quote:

The latest skirmish in the nations culture wars began when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that the company was guilty as charged for backing the biblical definition of a family. In a later radio interview, he ratcheted up the rhetoric: I think we are inviting Gods judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.
